Here's the scenario: Me; gun-rights supporter, gun owner, CCW licensee, daily carry. You; gun-control supporter, unarmed.

We are hunkered down in the food court in a mall. The shooter is walking around, shooting the cowering victims under their tables. It looks like he'll reach you before he reaches me...

Me: (stage whisper) Hey, are you armed?

You: No, I hate guns!

Me: Oh, ok. (pulls weapon, verify a round is chambered and mag is full. Check spare mags, total of 19 rounds)

You: Are YOU armed?

Me: Yes.

You: Then why don't you shoot him?

Me: Because pantywaist gun-haters like you have derided armed citizens as 'wild-westers' - always wanting to jump in and be the hero in a John Wayne movie. But I'm not. I just intend to defend myself.

You: What? You'd let him shoot all these people and then ME, before you'd shoot him?

Me: Damn straight!! You all had years to acquire a weapon and train to use it, same as me. And you chose to be unarmed. So, dial 9-1-1 and pray...

The whole point of efficient gun control is so scenarios like that don't happen in the first place.

'Efficient' gun control only removes weapons from the criminals, and NO PROPOSAL EVER has accomplished that or even approached that ideal.

You lost me as soon as you said we're "pinned down". I don't know what kind of call of duty fantasy you live, but a lunatic shooter in a public place isn't going to be using suppression fire to achieve advancement on any position. He'll be doing whatever demented ends he sees fit with the tool he probably was not trained to use but regardless was able to obtain.

You derided gun-control fanatics as thinking of you as a movie stereotype when you immediately put yourself in a highly unlikely move-like scenario that happens to prove your point right.

Thank you for nitpicking, I have edited.

Had I been a call of duty player, I would have been more familiar with the term.

And thank you for pointing out that people hiding from a shooter is a highly unlikely movie-like scenario that never happened in places like Luby's, Columbine, and Sandy Hook.

Are you a very funny guy or an idiot? I can't tell...

Well, people with a sense of humor recognize that in others, and the same goes for idiocracy.

When was your last psych consult? You have a pretty morbid sense of fantasy.

Last month... he killed himself. Doctors' suicide rates are higher than national average, you know.

Does your doctor have a spot in his/her schedule, or do you keep him/her really busy?
