The large death toll primarily comes from the Ukrainian military using heavy weapons against populated areas.

Amnesty International researchers on the ground in eastern Ukraine interviewed eyewitnesses fleeing from fighting near Alechevsk, Donetsk, Kramatorsk, Krasny Luch, Lisichansk, Lugansk, Rubeznoe, Pervomaisk and Slovyansk. Researchers also interviewed Ukrainian refugees in the Rostov region of Russia.

Civilians from these areas told Amnesty International that the Ukrainian government forces subjected their neighbourhoods to heavy shelling. Their testimonies suggest that the attacks were indiscriminate and may amount to war crimes. Witnesses also said that separatist fighters abducted, tortured, and killed their neighbours.

FACT: The Russian invasion is the cause. FACT: Ukraine defence is justified, have you read the Geneva Convention? Rebels locate their forces in an around civilians, FACT: this is a war crime. Ukraine forces under attack have to engage military targets even if they are co-located with civilians (and often don't giving these terrorists free reign) and doing so still places the blame wholly on the invading terrorist forces.

This the same mentalaity as HAMAS, using human shields. They are scum for doing this.

The Geneva convention bars a force from attacking civilians but if military targets are colocated with civilians then the target is now a military target. Attacking a human shield is not a war crime just using one is.

That's assuming that the military target is attacked, if the attack is indiscriminate than that is a war crime.

You can't bomb an entire city just because one soldier happens to be in the city.
