I'm a dick on the best of days and today was not the best of days.

I've deleted my abrasive and stupid posts. Do whatever it is you want to do, but I'll at least offer this as some sort of apology for my words.

I will say this for the future though: I always speak my mind but I will NEVER take offensive action against people; nobody will ever be banned or kicked from the group just because something irritated me. I can be harsh with words, but I'll never go as far as actually taking hostile action against someone.

I know I'm probably going to catch some flack for this but I can completely understand your position.

Personally I get irate by the repeated shitposts on the Steam discussion boards made by people who really should know better, and if I had my own forum where every John, Dick and Harry could ask me and my team retarded questions all damn day, I would boil over as well.

It is so easy for people looking in from the outside to say what you would do, it is much harder to both put yourself in that position, and harder yet to be in it.

It's why companies have PR teams, to have people removed from the process, people who doesn't look at the product as "their babies" and are better able to distance themselves from it.

For what it's worth, I understand your reaction, because if I was in the same position, I would probably do the same.

I typoed one word and for that I lacked mental capacity. There's a line between being a dick and being a hostile asshole.

I also didn't ask about support per se, I wanted to know other peoples opinion on the sound entry. I am free to post about it if I want to, and just because you find it annoying doesn't give you the right to tell me all the shit you did.

Learn how to respect your users and fans (I am the first, I was the latter), and you will gain their respect. This is not the way to go. This should be obvious from all the game companies that are being largely hated by the gaming community. Being nice doesn't take much. Try it, and you'll get it back.

An appropriate initial response would have been:

We've been receiving a lot of complaints about the "HoxHud Initialized" voice and we are thinking about having it disabled by default and users can choose to enable it if they wish. Until then, you can follow these instructions to disable it: Link.

Not sure why people are butthurt over this. Devs can have bad days and need to speak their mind. Especially when you have to deal with some of the people on the Steam forums.

Most people really won't give a shit. Situations like this are why people made "RTFM." Or you could just google it or ask around. The butthurt reminds me of what surrounded the "What's Next" announcement (again, most people weren't upset).

I also want to say thanks for making and maintaining Hoxhud!

It is pretty amazing a person can't be abrasive from time to time without someone else getting a chapped ass over the whole thing. This whole thing is like someone not watching their favorite actor or listening to their favorite musician because they ________. Big deal if you're an asshole. Your work speaks for itself. If Hoxhud were a paid mod, I'd be on it in a second.

I agree with you tbh. But here's the problem you're not only representing yourself, you're also representing your HUD, think of it as a business, if you have no consumer base then you might as well not have a product. Keep the people happy, even if it means that you have to fake out a nice and courteous response. With all that being said, as an american dude I thought the elegant British voice over was kinda cool and I got a kick out of it,

Even though it's free, it is still your hard work and I guess you're still interested in having people acknowledge/use it? But at least you're listening to people now, which is a good direction. Just keep in mind that there are literal thousands of PD2-players and not everyone is a computer wiz. Be mindful of your community and using the argument "it's free, so i don't care" just sounds arrogant. Of course you care, otherwise you would not have spent this much time on developing the mod.

This subreddit is pretty small.

I care about not alienating an entire community, not because I'm scared of /r/paydaytheheist readers boycotting HoxHud.

I may not be a good person, but I at least want to try.
