Google is experimenting with a brand new blue button for its Omnibox in Chrome Canary, but not all users can see it right now.
The button is apparently going to get displayed when performing a search in the Omnibox, which means that typing anything that doesn’t look like a site address in the bar will prompt the new button to appear.
The feature is currently only available for Chrome Canary users, which means it’s dedicated to developers and early adopters, although anyone can take it for a spin. It doesn’t mean, however, that it couldn’t transpire over to the Google Chrome version most of us are using in a future version.
This may have been caused by the fact that not all users know that they can search straight from the Omnibox, without actually going over to Google.com. Another effort in this direction was the search box in the browser’s new tab page that got introduced last year; typing anything in that particular box will transfer your query to the Omnibox.
