Circlebroke used to be a high-effort circlejerk. It was created after the faces of atheism debacle that basically destroyed the credibility of /r/atheism forever. Faces of atheism broke the jerk. Hence, circlebroke.

The problem with any sub dedicated to opposing Reddit's hivemind is that SJWs think in black and white. It opposes that which they dislike, so they assume it must espouse that which they like. In the beginning you'd only see one or two posts a day about how the mean boys said something about a girl so let's all shit ourselves, but over time the infection spread and about a year ago it died. From its corpse crawled what we have today: unabashed racism and sexism under the guise of fighting the "wrong kind" of racism and sexism. It's been literal garbage since then and, given how the mods explicitly support SJW ideologies, is never coming back.

In a way it was, although SRD is a lot more deluded. SRD is literally all about scoffing at the proletariat as you drink your wine eat your le buttery popcorn, but they pretend it's not. CB was about pointing out and making fun of jerks from the start and there was never any imaginary moral superiority.

As long as there are things on reddit which don't break the rules but SJWs don't like they'll always get to blame 'the admins'.
