“This is the point where inclusiveness just leads to bad writing. When you’ve made a work where heteros are literally the minority, you’ve made a game that lacks verisimilitude. Unless you made a game where you play as a group of adventurers who met in a gay bar or at a gay rally or something, the majority of your party should be straight because spoiler alert the majority of the world is straight.”

I’m inclined to agree, and I say this as someone who not only prefers good writing but also as someone who is bisexual. At this point Bioware is sacrificing realism based on statistics for the sake of inclusion. Yes I realize this is a fantasy setting, but even fantasy is bound by certain laws of realism.
I’m sorry, but that’s complete bullshit. What statistics? Do these statistics actually exist? What is the sample group? Are these hypothetical statistics reliable, or like many studies, highly manipulated to make a point?
The majority of the world is straight, huh? Prove it. I’m 100% sure you can’t prove the are or aren’t, and maybe you know more people personally that identify (publically) as straight (which doesn’t actually mean they are, btw, because guess what, people lie about that, and for good reason), but that’s not a reliable sample. I know more people that aren’t straight, and it’s not like I went looking for them. It’s not like I met my friends at “gay bars and gay rallies or something.” I met people the say way many people meet people: in class, or in the line at the grocery store - in perfectly normal everyday circumstances.
I mean come on.
I’m sorry, but that’s complete bullshit. What statistics? Do these statistics actually exist? What is the sample group?...
If you want to look at it from a DA Lore perspective, canonically… most of Thedas is a bit more… open about everything....
