I visit Gaybros at work. My parents visit Gaybros. My Grandmother has visited Gaybros. We have many users who are under at 18 at Gaybros. While some groups may openly discuss porn with friends and share links, equally as many people do not do this and porn is a private thing for them.

I understand that the thread will be missed: I enjoyed it myself at times. But it is not the reason Gaybros is strong, or awesome or filled with good people.

We're going to give the new setup at least a month - I hope many of you will at least be open minded enough to try it. In a month, we'll see where things are and consider any changes that need to be made.

Jus because you're ashamed of what your grandmother might see is not reason to ban FDF. This is not called /GayFriendsandFamily or a PFLAG meeting. Your personal discomfort from what your family might think should not be a driving force in this decision - and as you brought it up as justification - it clearly is.

A large group of users want FDF. It seems it is an assault to your sensibilities (clutch the pearls!) for these posts to exist. You know what, the inane memes and political posts that are nothing more than college liberal ideas circle jerks are an assault on my sensibilities. And guess what, I don't ban them...I simply don't click on them. Voila - problem solved

Your grandmother visits Gaybros, and so do 43,000 other people. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should ban it. That's not the reason there are moderators on reddit.

The users in a subreddit say whether they like or dislike something by using upvotes and downvotes. If people are under 18 or don't want to see NSFW posts, they can mark it in their settings, and not view NSFW posts.

Gaybros isn't a subreddit targeted at your grandmother though; while she is perfectly welcome here, her visiting here is not something that should shape the content of the subreddit.

For users under 18, people who just dont want to discuss porn, or people who visit Gaybros at work: Don't click the link. Or if the name of the thread itself is dangerous at work, use reddit enhancement suite to filter out NSFW content.

I agree that the thread is not the reason Gaybros is awesome, but it is a part of it. Its part of the content that people are here for, and if this thread shows anything its that more people seem to miss it than there are people who want it gone.

With respect, it's the condecending tone I object to as much as anything else about this decision. You're telling everyone what's best for them, dictating morality, enforcing shame around sex, and telling us we aren't being open-minded for going along with it.

To shove a well-liked part of gaybros back into the closet to protect the delicate sensibilities of straight people seems antithetical to the entire idea of being a gaybro.

You seem to think that by having FDF posts that those groups have to click on them and watch Cum Sluts 69 and be part of the discussion. If they don't want to see the porn, they don't have to click on it.

I love this so much. That's how everything on the internet should work. If you're following someone on Twitter for example, and they post something you found "INCREDIBLY OFFENSIVE", what do you do? Unfollow them, don't bitch at them every 10 minutes about how offensive you thought their post/posts are. It's like the people who are fanboys of something but then go on to like a Facebook page dedicated to the the opposite thing just to spew hate constantly.

edit: I shouldn't even say "we" because it's clear that the community has no say in the idiotic rules that are beginning to be applied. Why don't you just auto-correct every mention of the word "gay" into "homosexual" because it can be seen as "offensive"?

And I hate that you use the word "open minded" when what you're doing is the exact opposite of that. "Let's just practice narrow mindedness, if you're open minded enough to do that." Not only are you hypocritical, but you are also condescending.

What's your reasoning about sharing questionable content in labeled comments, it's still there for anyone to access it even little timmy and your family members. You haven't really banned explicit content, meaning people can still create FDF only if it's a self post and the op doesn't reference porn any where including direct links from the title.

Mass, serious question: do you really think Sunday Studs is going to be that much more family friendly because a penis isn't shown? This image (NSFW, probably) is going to be the tamest image you'll find on a Sunday here. Give your grandmother an album of these. Also, in response to your reply to my parent comment up there, a full nude image isn't necessarily porn, and even a grandmother understands that. Case in point: NSWF
