How do you help somebody like this? Do you talk to them? Do you take the can away? Do you call for help?

I can honestly say if I saw this on a bus, it's the only thing I'd be thinking about. Apparently a lot of people on the bus found it amusing, I find it sad.

She's doing it for fun.

On one hand yeah she's fucking her life up and it'd be great to help everyone, but on the other hand you shouldn't really be getting in everybody's business.

That's a very isolationist way of thinking. This women was not in her right mind, she was addicted to something extremely harmful and doing it in plain sight on public transportation.

You couldn't convince me it would be wrong to reach out to her, but you could convince me of the best way to do it.

Dude is a fucking retard I wouldn't even bother with him. Good question on what you could do to help. Sadly I have pretty much the same question and no answer.
