Well it does seem to be that way.

7 of the top 8 posts in /r/all are Jennifer Lawrence. I've never seen news about the NSA do that. (Also kudos to that Outback guy for getting to number 4.)

Am I the only one who thinks of Jude Law when he reads JLaw?

No, I was wondering why Jude Law was relevant to this situation for a while.

For the record, I wouldn't mind some Jude Law nudies...just throwing that out there.

You know why so many redditors are terrified that the NSA is watching their every move, spying on their porn habits, looking at their private photos?

Because it's exactly what they'd do if they worked at the NSA.

Well apparently...

NSA employees routinely pass around intercepted nude photos

I'm not sure it's true but I also heard this happens sometimes with those body scanners.

Yeah. This isn't just being discussed on that subreddit. This is over multiple celebrity subreddits as there's tons of leaked pictures flooding out of 4chan.

There may not be enough popcorn in the world for this...

Edit: looks like r/jenniferlawrence has decided to no longer allow the pictures.

2nd edit: looks like there's even more pictures of other celebrities still getting posted.

How the fuck did 4chan get these?

That's peanuts the bitcoin address the leaker is using already has $60,000 on it for about 1/20th of the photos they say they have. I imagine it will go up to the low seven figures if they post the videos they say they have.

Nah man. That rumor's probably utter bullshit. No way TMZ buys and posts those pics/videos. They'd get sued by each celebrity and they probably could be subject to criminal charges. Even if the TMZ editors reached out to the guy, their lawyers probably shot it down real quick.

They haven't even posted the already leaked pictures on their site at this point.

Weird, random brain tangent: how do you think some of those other celebrities feel when their pictures are leaked and the only one making the huge splash is Jennifer Lawrence? Like jealous-relieved?

I think the only other celebs that have had photos actually leaked so far are victoria justice, and 2 others who I've never actually heard of. Apparently the girl from the spider man movies has just leaked too. But I'm guessing that Jennifer Lawrences nudes only have a real impact because of a lot of the internets obsession with her.

Go to /r/celebs if you want to see constant updates and drama, a lot of people are arguing over this on different subs. But if you go to 4chan all you'll see is "OMG TITS THANK YOU BASED OP" etc. so theres no real point except if you want instant updates on the whole thing.

EDIT : Yeah... apparently I was wrong, a fuck load of celebrities have had nudes leaked so far.

Which as far as drama is concerned would be biblical because Apple lives or dies on its brand desirability, having a whole swathe of celebrities pissed off at them for a lack of security could lead to some interesting outcomes.

Yeah this thing could be a fucking GIGANTIC blow for Apple.

You can hear the Android fanboys salivating (myself included). I think it's fucking stupid that the photos are automatically uploaded to a server, if it's on you home network thats one thing, but to put all the photos on a central server is beyond dumb.

Google+ does the same thing on Android.

People use that?

Well since it comes with the phone it's pretty much automatic. Android is becoming more closed source. For example on newer versions of Android there is no Gallery to view photos you have taken, there isn't even a camera app.

What there is, is "Google camera" (their closed source camera that is now the default); and "Photos", again closed source and an extension of G+ so you pretty much have to use it. You can disable the auto backup thing but it's a new thing and seems to be enabled by default.

It's not the worst thing in the world but a lot of vital apps in Android won't be open source for long. The system may be, but the apps are all going be become Google orientated. I guess when it comes to their apps they want to improve them without letting everyone else see their code, otherwise OEMs like Samsung could create a copy and add their own flavour too, furthur increasing fragmentation.

This way if you want some of Google's new features, you simply download the app, instead of having to wait for your OEM to do a system update.

I may have explained that too much for what is a thread about something entirely unrelated but yeah...

Yeah because it's not like you can turn that option off and it's not like Google doesn't have the exact same thing.

All over Twitter as well. Jennifer Lawrence and someone called Victoria Justice are both trending (in the UK, at least).

Fuck this shit. Apparently the right to privacy doesn't extend to attractive women.

someone called Victoria Justice

She played the lead character in a show called Victorious on Nickelodeon, which is the same show that Ariana Grande got her big break on.

According to the thread, there's leaks of Ariana Grande as well, though her face isn't in the image so it may be a false flag.

Who knows, maybe nudes from the whole cast of Victorious leaked. God knows that the internet is waiting on baited breath for nudes of Robbie.

The right to privacy should extend to all people regardless of your "insert quality here".

In this case, I don't even think the idea of privacy crossed most users minds when they saw the leaked photos. It seems to me that obsession with celebrity, crossed with social taboos (sexuality / presentation of the naked female form, especially in America), crossed with the more intimate qualities of the pictures and the knowledge that they were not meant for anyone else, is what really gave this so much exposure.

I think it would be more effective to denounce the behavior of violation of privacy rather than a generalization of mostly anonymous users branded as "redditors". I wholly understand the need to speak out about the behavior, as I'm doing that myself right now; however I think that clarifying the behavior as negative rather than the group of people will more directly address the right to privacy issue.

And speaking of, we really, really need to do something about digital right to privacy.

It only applies to reddit neckbeards who hate the NSA.

This is exactly why we need privacy! Whether a hacker does it or the NSA. If it gets leaked this is exactly how people act.

This has potential to be a huge, huge trove of drama. White knight accusations, the aforementioned NSA equivalencies, deleted imgur albums and 4chan threads, cries of "not really hacking," and so much more.

Edit: Oh God, this could be good for Bitcoin and this is Apple's fault enter the picture.

Edit2: Add in a heaping helping of censorship cries, /r/jenniferlawrence removed all posts and /r/celebs has been removed from /r/all.

Edit3: /r/thefappening removed from /r/all, reposts and drama moving to /r/pics, /r/trollxchromosomes makes it to /r/all. /r/kateupton remains unaffected, possible future drama to include celebrity favoritism?

I don't know whether this is related or not, but a informatics student in Belgium made the news last week for demonstrating it's ridiculously easy to gain username/password combinations of apple devices logged into a company network.

And by 'ridiculously easy' I mean 'doing some magic stuff with computers'.

Now called fapple.

I mean, if they were able to get her AppleID and reset her password, they'd get access. That's why Apple announced the authentication program where you can't add a new device without a code to one of your trusted devices and can't reset the password without a security key that's incredibly long and can't be reset or accessed anywhere except where you stored it after it was initially generated while signing up for the authentication.

If they did it that way, it's not so much a flaw as it is just the standard way all usernames and passwords work. That's why the authentication exists and why they encourage you to sign up for it.

And I'm not denigrating her if she didn't have the authentication and they got in through hacking her password, because it's not something many people think about because not many people think about their AppleID having anything that would really be worth hacking.

This awful event might raise awareness about the potential dangers in cloud computing.

I used to have a Flickr-Account, but I've grown to value my family's privacy too much. My photos are now stored on encrypted local drives, no more far away on servers of companies.

It's certainly less convenient, but I can sleep better.

Isn't Flickr intended to be more of a photo-sharing website than a full-blown backup service? Don't upload photos you don't want shared. Definitely don't enable auto-uploading of photos taken on your smartphone. Keep all the private/personal photos local and share whatever ones you want.

I wouldn't be that disgusted by it if this community wasn't so incredibly (as an average) pro-privacy.

If the norm on reddit was people just sharing personal information and pictures and whatever about themselves, then it'd be creepy, but at least not offensively hypocritical.

But no, most people on this site guard their identity zealously and are furious about the fact that the government (or anybody else) might violate their privacy.

I guess after hopping off my moral high horse I still don't really get it, either. Yes, Jennifer Lawrence is very attractive, but there are a ton of very attractive women who post candid shots of themselves in /r/gonewild every single day and would probably love for you to tell them how you're jerking off to those pictures or whatever people do. Just do that - everybody wins that way.

Drama or not, I would be really happy if subredditdrama could refrain from contributing to this by giving it more visibility. Well I would call them immature hypocrites. There are many things they could be called.

But in all seriousness, this is going to be a big deal. It seems to be an issue with cloud vulnerability. But if the report is true, the fact that the guy doing this is asking for payment in bitcoin - I don't even know how this will end up.

I have so much sympathy for these women (and the number involved is sadly rising). People forget they are human beings with feelings. I can't even imagine what they are going through.

Also - I checked around the many gossip blogs - they have no comments on it yet. Maybe cause it's Sunday, but at least they aren't adding fuel to this yet Edit: Well, not anymore. Perez Hilton had a typical response. Articles now up on Buzzfeed and Daily Mail.

Seriously, how the fuck do you justify this to yourself as a human fucking being?

I see this sentiment echoed on the internet all the time, and I don't understand it. People say this as if human beings have a good track record, or as if being a human has some sort of built-in moral component. Have you read a history book? Do you know what people are capable of? How is someone stealing nude photos of the internet's favorite actress in any way, shape, or form surprising?

I don't agree with what they did, but the shock and surprise I'm seeing here has left me baffled.

This is a sub that regularly deals with people's reactions to rape and murder victims, genocides, wars, riots among other things. But some people are acting like this is a new low. Forgetting the fact the same thing happened to Scarlett Johansson a couple years ago.

I think the same nature of celebrity that makes people feel entitled to this pictures also creates a connection that makes empathy easier.

You are so right. Humans do and always have done horrible shit to each other. I get so anoyed when I hear statements like 'people these days are so (insert terrible adjective).' Yes, they are but like you said: read a history book, unfortunately this IS human nature.

And it takes all types to make up this world, there are lovely ethical people and there and abusive creeps. It's almost as annoying as the whole 'Faith in humanity restored' because there's a picture on the internet of someone being nice...

Right but the point is that reddit doesn't have a "community" any more. It's a network of individual communities. I have very little in common with the rage comic crowd, the social justice crowd, or the white power crowd aside from the fact that I type in www.reddit.com/r/ before I go to my preferred subreddits.

People come into threads like this and say things like "My word I can't believe REDDIT is SO HYPOCRITCAL" and get so angry and worked up towards this "reddit" thing as if its some group of people that needs to be stopped. Even the name of ShitRedditSays instantly marks it off as retarded because there is no one thing that reddit "says". I could just go into /r/niggers all day and post links to comments there and be like "WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE REDDIT SPEWS SO MUCH HATE AND VITRIOL".

People need to stop taking the shit people do on the internet to heart. Yes, I understand that it is disturbing that people would save and celebrate these wrongfully obtained images, I agree. But who gives a shit they're going to do it whether you get mad about it or not.

I think the majority don't vote.

More proof reddit only cares about privacy when they think there's a chance they'll be targeted and/or personal ethics go out the window when boobs.

Tbf, the guy who called hypocrisy was massively upvoted I mean shockingly so. But yeah the fact that a lot of them still disagreed with him is pathetic.

So the same people championing privacy rights in r/technology are the subscribers of r/jenniferlawrence?

Yep, according to /u/butyourenice, reddit refers to one group of people who all have the exact same opinions.

In my experience I've found that the extent to which someone is willing to argue over a concept or principle online has very little bearing over how they actually act.

Specifically, redditors care about their own privacy. As an average, this community has proven all too eager to violate the privacy of others at the drop of a hat.

This is unreal, the top of /r/all is full of NSFW Jennifer Lawrence.

This is plain rude and assholish. I could understand if she leaked them intentionally and people were gawking but they were stolen from her private property and spread everywhere without her permission. This can seriously fuck with the poor girls mind and she seems like a nice person. Is there not enough free porn out there meant to be seen? What a bunch of cunts.

It's the allure of the forbidden fruit I reckon.

You're right it is, doesn't make them less of cunts though.

I predict many people will swarm here to let you know "it's almost as if Reddit is made up of blah blah..."

Guarantee 98 percent of them are trying to justify the fact that they saved the photos.

It's already happened. People think spouting that line auto wins then arguments are something.

As if there isn't an "87% upvoted" to the right of the post. Yeah, sure, maybe not all of reddit, just 87% of the people who voted it up or down. It's even more damning in some of the main subs where there's millions of subscribers.

Forbidden fruit AND people not seeing her as a person, but an object. And I'm not talking about the general objectification of women that normally goes along with images of naked women, I'm talking about the objectification of celebrities, who are not seen as personal individuals but as public property.

I would assume that it's because sexual attraction is not fungible. If you're attracted to person A and want to see them naked, then the availability of naked photos of person B doesn't affect that, even if you are also attracted to person B.

As a popcorn enthusiast, I'm actually curious as to how the celebrities and the media at large will react to this.

This can seriously fuck with the poor girls mind and she seems like a nice person.

I think we shouldn't treat people as such fragile creatures. It's creepy, unfortunate, and sucks. But stuff like this is only going to happen as more Gen X'ers become famous celebrities so I think the best we can do for them is to not add to the mentality that "oh my goodness this is one of the worst things that could ever happen to you." It's embarrassing, but I for one would also like if a nude or semi-erotic photo of an otherwise competent politician wasn't an immediate disqualifier in the future.

The excitement which her pictures are being shared with on that sub is really creepy/sad. I feel bad for her, I really like her as an actress and she seems to have a great personality, this just all feels so very wrong.

I don't think it's just a privacy thing, I've noticed a popular attitude on reddit is "I HATE WHEN BAD THINGS HAPPEN (but only to me, it's ok when it happens to other people)."

I was waiting for someone to put that in the thread for Robin Williams, just to show how hypocritical a lot of reddit is. A rich person isn't allowed to feel sad, but if they commit suicide, then suddenly it's believable that money doesn't solve every problem.

I know there is a whole fetish culture around these women (and they are very attractive) but the amount of people saying "best day ever" and getting upvoted is seriously fucked. Do people not realize how extremely embarrassing and damaging it is for this to happen to you?

I hope the women take it well and don't do anything stupid... Lesson is to NEVER take photos because even if you don't share them they can be hacked.

I feel so sorry for all the women including Jennifer Lawrence who have had their privacy invaded so publicly. It's disgusting.

Commodification is very real, and very damaging to the quality of human life both individually and collectively.

I saw JLaw's boobs. My life finally has value, now to kill myself because I have finally peaked.

Now I'm curious what the justification will be. Whenever someone's bitter ex steals their photos the rational is "well you shouldn't share photos with untrustworthy people". Maybe the only answer is to completely unplug from the grid and never take photos again.

I'm just speechless at how fast this got out of control; top 3 post being the nude photos of JL? I worry how much stressed she might be for this whole ordeal, as any ordinary human being with privacy should be.

Right now it's around 6/10 top posts on /r/all

Its interesting to me that I have the poster of these pics in /r/jenniferlawrence already marked as "Troll/Sicko"

Let me begin by saying that we on SRD often note that reddit is not one monolith hivemind. There are people who think privacy should be protected above all; but there are also people who don't care about privacy one whit. The idea that you can compare group one to group two and say "reddit is being hypocritical" is kind of silly.

I doubt that there is all that much overlap between the people posting on /r/politics and /r/privacy about how evil the NSA is, and people posting on /r/JenniferLawrence about how awesome her leaked boob pictures are.

But I do believe there is some inconsistency even among the people who do support privacy rights. It's not in this case, but it comes up a lot when it's an issue of privacy violation that leads to some just result. Like the guy who hacked the computers of people who were suspected of committing rape.

She's absolutely beautiful, but just because she's beautiful doesn't make it the right of people on the internet to invade her (and others) privacy for the sake of cheap sickos like Perez Hilton, Reddit or 4chan users or whoever to plaster this everywhere. Those photos were clearly intended for someone in the privacy of her own personal life. If I was her right now I'd be devastated.

Also forgot to add, it's funny how quickly overwhelming adoration of a celebrity can breed such a creepy and disgusting attitude towards her privacy.

I'm usually psyched about something with the potential to create this level of drama, but this is just depressing.

I appreciate (as I am sure that Jennifer Lawrence does) that if you're constantly in the public eye you sacrifice some privacy, but nothing justifies this kind of bullshit.

When logged in, the top 7 links in /r/all are all various leaked Jennifer Lawrence images. I think there are about 10 total in the top 20. Jeez... I shouldn't be surprised by how much everyone is eating this up, but I am regardless.

/u/[deleted] had a good point when he said "[deleted]".

I do feel sorry for JLaw I really do.

I wonder how they will be able to do that.

It has been a good month for drama, if not one for human dignity, I guess.

[–]Las_Pollas_Hermanas 50 ポイント51 ポイント  (5子コメント)

don't care, saw tits

That's really all that matters for a lot of people on this site, isn't it? Juvenile and pathetic.

Yes.

The thing is...there are so many freely available tits out there. Why do they have to steal Jennifer Lawrence's tits? I mean, I'm sure they're nice but odds are they probably look much like any other private selfie photos that are on most other woman's phone. Anyone who watches amateur porn knows all boobs blur into one badly lit home iPhone boob after a while.

Juvenile

well many of the people gawking over these things are probably < 18, if that makes you feel any better.

Pictures of underaged celebrities have been posted as well

Please tell me those aren't on the front page of /r/all as well.

Afaik they've been removed, but they're still up on imgur even tho they've been reported

Apart from Lawrence and Upton I haven't heard of most of the celebs being thrown around, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people before it got taken off the front page clicked on thr links without realising it was underage content, I can just about get my head around people posting nude images without feeling bad about it but what kind of person posts what is essentially child porn on Reddit for unsuspecting people to see?

Sooooo why aren't the Admins deleting them? Aren't there somekind of laws against this? At the same time shit like this is allowed, but doxxing someone is a crime against humanity. Ow reddit, ilu.

They were shadow banning people/deleting comments and threads for talking about that zoey quinn shit but they keep this stuff on? Seems gross and sketchy.

Everything about the Zoey Quinn shit is weird and sketchy.

I messaged the admins and /u/atticus138 took /r/JenniferLawrence down from /r/all. The same will hopefully happen to /r/celebs. The mods of the subreddits are not taking them down to not cause a Streisand effect that increases visibility. They might be right but on the other hand, it's all over the net now anyway and there will be a lot of pages that will feature the pictures. What a disgrace.

Edit: So /u/atticus138 of course is not an admin but a mod of /r/JenniferLawrence. He, among others is also modding /r/celebs. The mods of /r/celebs are not taking it out of /r/all so as long as there is no admin intervention, it will stay as is.

Yeah, I gotta say its a strong argument. Those photos are literally everywhere at the moment and probably by tmrw this whole thing will have blown over, similar to the Scarlett Johannson leaked pics. If they took them down in mass it would become a whole big thing and take on another life.

I mean sucks to be her, but taking the pics down is just closing the barn door after the horse is gone.

Yeah I agree, it takes a Day 1 story of "OMG NUDES!!!" and turns it into a Day 2 story of "OMG CENSORSHIP!!!", at least on reddit

The omg censorship story seems to last for a lot longer too. It's a lot easier to stay angry for days on end than horny.

It's a lot easier to stay angry... than horny

For some reason I feel like this should be on a poster. It seems a lot more meaningful than it is. You could probably make a killing in karma putting this on r/AA

Apparently someone hacked the iCloud storage, which if true A) holy shit and B) these are going to be flooding out all day until whatever enterprising pervert found his way in realizes he could be selling these to TMZ for a small fortune instead of plastering them on the internet for free. Kind of funny that there are dozens of celebrities in the pile of leaked pictures but the one most people are talking about by far is Jennifer Lawrence. (Can't blame them!) I bet that's a weird feeling for everyone else on the list, a mixture of relieved/insulted.

On the one hand I feel bad for the people involved. On the other hand I feel vindicated in my paranoia about cloud storage.

It's the same as gossip. Most partake and get upset when it's about them.

Times like these I seriously reconsider whether or not I really want to associate with this site or have people see me on it during class

Reddittors forget all their "core" beliefs when something outweighs them.

Ie: Google play all access, alternative to spotify, to get prefferential treatment to new apps along with several other big streaming apps. This is in no way related to net neutrality and you should shut up if you think so

There was a thread calling out the hipocrisy and it was mostly ignored when this stayed at androids frontpage for over a day

But there are comments on that post for both sides, and most of them are against it.

The first few pages of /r/celebs is nothing but leaked nudes of various women. This is so disgusting. How can people act like this and still feel ok about themselves?

I think something to remember is that it's not a justifiable argument to say, "Well, she shouldn't have taken photos of herself naked in the first place!"

No. Incorrect. Sorry. Shut your mouth. You can do whatever you want in a private setting, and it is no no way your fault if somebody maliciously accesses your personal private property and distributes its content to the masses.

Of all people, I'm sure Jennifer Lawrence will be able to handle this with a lot of class.

Lol at all the folks in there pointing out that reddit is more than one person as if it's lost on people and makes a damn difference.

#NotAllRedditors

I don't feel bad for these girls.

Well, I do, but only in the sense that I feel bad for anyone that has images of them distributed wtihout their permission.

Reddit distributes images of people without their permission on a daily basis. It what we do.

On the front page earlier, there was a picture of an obese goth couple with the caption, "I think the universe is mocking my loneliness." Did that couple want to be on the front page of reddit? They probably just wanted to enjoy a nice time out on the town.

/r/holdmybeer is full of people doing stupid stuff. Do the people in those videos want their mishaps displayed to the world?

To me, that is what taking nude selfies is... it is something that belongs on /r/whatcouldgowrong

Does the layman know the intricacies of digital hardware? Do they know how the cloud works? Do they know the slightest thing about the devices they are using to take and store personal images on? No.

The expectation of privacy in the digital age is unreasonable. Sure, it would be nice if the world were all sunshine and rainbows... but it isn't. This isn't the first time this has happened, and it will not be the last. If you don't want your 6 year old to shoot himself in the face, don't keep a gun in your house. If you don't want nude pictures leaked all over the internet, then don't take nude pictures on your digital devices that are connected to the entire world and save them in some magical place called the cloud.

I do feel bad for them... it's an invasion of privacy; but it is an invasion of privacy that was brought on by their own naivety. Looking at these leaked photos is no more an invasion of privacy than watching a leaked video of some guy that thought it would be a good idea to stack a ladder on top of a chair while using a chainsaw to cut a limb a tree.

Every image on reddit, or the internet as a whole, that was not endorsed by those that are depicted in them is an invasion of privacy.

The primary difference here is that it includes celebrities, boobs, and buttholes rather than obesity and stupidity.
