a lot of what ppl call skinny shaming is actually a really insidious ableist fatphobia like tbh someone calling a skinny (non anorexic) woman “anorexic looking” in a degrading way is probably going to make her feel a little bad about herself but heres what its also going to do:

1. Spread the idea that suffering from eating disorders is shameful, this is a stigma that keeps people silent about their eating disorders. This is frequently deadly.
2. Spread the stereotype that anorexia looks like a skinny woman. This stereotype keeps people from recognizing the signs of anorexia in fat people. It keeps doctors from giving help to anorexic fat women because they believe its “just them taking care of themselves/dieting” this is very often deadly.

Like before you scream skinny shaming take a second to recognize who this rhetoric is actually actively harming.
