i don’t know if this is okay but I’m really emotional right now and think this needs to be shared with you. today in class, we were reviewing the Code of Conduct. We got to the sexual assault section, an the boys in my class all tuned out at that point. Kind of like “Ah, this is a woman’s issue” When my teacher was done reading, i raised my hand. I said that i would really like to see the boys in the room pay more attention to this because this concerns them as well. They just continued to carry on. Then i stood up. I went on about how girls get assaulted everyday and how screwed up it was that they weren’t paying a lick of attention because they really don’t have to worry about it as much and about how as women, there is so much we have to do to protect ourselves because boys like them think that girls are just objects to be used whenever they very well feel like it. One of the boys challenged me and i asked him what he did everyday to prevent rape or sexual assault. He shut up. After my rant one of the boys said to me “nice speech.” I didn’t know how to take it but i didn’t care what he had to say. I have been reading your blog lately and you have given me the courage to stand up for what i believe in. Thank you so much. I wanna show people the girl power

That is awesome, you should be SO proud of yourself for standing up against rape culture like that.  You are awesome and strong.  Take care my dear!
