    Zoe Quinn is an indie game developer who has already once been found guilty of being a woman who likes games so, this being her second offense, the court of misogynist dudebro gamers has seen fit to sentence her to three days of twitter harassment, one hacking of her blog and a doxxing.

    There were also lots of screenshots of dubious authenticity and leaking of naked photos of her on the same day her ex put up the blog post.

    Also, Zoe is apparently a rapist if you twist the meaning of 'rape' and 'consent' to the point of being meaningless.

      I've read through everything and can provide. Essentially, some shitlord decided to use 4chan as his personal army to take out revenge on Zoe, his cheating ex-girlfriend. One of the people that she cheated on him with just so happened to be Nathan Grayson, a games writer for Kotaku. Though he has never once written about Zoe Quinn or her completely free game in any way, the internet decided she was trading sex for positive reviews and decided to harass, hack, doxx her, and spread naked pictures of her around the internet.

      Essentially, this is just another case of 4chan and Reddit attempting to ruin a woman's life, but with the added defense of "oh, but journalistic integrity," an argument that has absolutely no merit.

      He posted it to Something Awful and Penny Arcade, I believe, not 4chan.

      And Nathan did write about her game, but incredibly briefly, in passing and in articles about events she just happened to be involved in. So yeah, nothing significant.

      I just don't get it. If the Kotaku journalist had been praising her game then, sure, there's one reason to criticize. But since that wasn't the case, why do people care? This has essentially nothing to do with gaming.

      ...although even if she WERE trading sex for positive reviews, it still doesn't excuse the harassment and abuse she's been receiving.

      Hell, even if everything they say about her is 100% true, it STILL wouldn't merit the harassment she's been receiving.

      One issue that has been raised is that by Zoe's own definition (and potential admission) she raped her boyfriend (he only consented to a monogamous relationship and she broke that without telling him therefore he did not consent to sex with her). Kotaku has a history of calling out allegations of rape and sexual assaults or harassment within the industry so it stands to reason that they would be expected to call this out but they haven't. That said only like one fifth of the responses are about that. They would rather paint Zoe as some kind of criminal mastermind who used her feminine wiles to promote her game.

      I think just about every person involved in the story has poop smeared all over their face and stuff I don't really recommend reading the story unless you like awful stories.
