I just want to say that my main bugbear with the streaming coverage comes in the "live-look-ins" between rounds when they drop in on another game. That's great to do, and gives us something to do while other players are sideboarding, but please, for the love of God, INCLUDE LABELS!

Names, life totals, what game they're on, all these details that normally get included for coverage get totally ignored when they do the look-ins. It's really easy to fix and would keep the watchers informed.

The next time we get a tournament winner or contest to design a new card, we should push for it to be called "Wizards of the Coast."

What effects and stats it'd have, I dunno. Probably would have to include blue, though.

Palisade Giant is actually fairly decent in multiplayer formats, especially if you can give it something like Darksteel Plate or Gift of Immortality.

Hasbro Reports Increase in Revenue, but a Decline in MTG による themeaderyにおいて magicTCG

[–]strolpolNeeds to eat a hat 1 ポイント2 ポイント

The point I was making is that it would be really, really easy to do a cross-promotion. Those annoying throwaway ad cards in packs could be replaced by a code that could be redeemed for an online pack of the same booster. Game Day promos and other shop giveaways should also come with a similar redemption code. Buy a box, get a code for an equivalent number of virtual packs.

The cross-promotions they could do are incredibly easy and obvious. Soda cross-promotions with codes under caps, food cross-promotions, etc. With a movie forthcoming in the next few years, they could and SHOULD absolutely be doing everything they can to acknowledge that most people would be a thousand times more comfortable playing Magic privately in their own home than exposing themselves to their peers and risking being judged for enjoying a nerdy or "childish" pastime. (not saying I agree with that perspective, but plenty of people I know keep their hobby secret for that reason) MTGO should absolutely be a huge thing, and it would be, if there was a tablet version with a good UI and cross-platform play.

Hasbro Reports Increase in Revenue, but a Decline in MTG による themeaderyにおいて magicTCG

[–]strolpolNeeds to eat a hat 2 ポイント3 ポイント

It's ridiculous that Hasbro hasn't stepped in to take MTGO development away from Wizards, given the obvious evidence we've seen over years that they don't know what they're doing and don't care enough in the company to actually make meaningful changes towards fixing it.

It should be their number one mission to make it just as accessible as Hearthstone, and I don't mean just in giving it a snappy UI. There's no reason the game should be restricted to PCs in the modern age; it would be completely possible to have the game accessible by tablet and phone and for cross-platform play to be an option. Likewise, it's also a tremendous waste that they have not done more to advertise MTGO to paper players, as many of the casuals I come into contact with don't even know it exists.

[–]strolpolNeeds to eat a hat 4 ポイント5 ポイント

For a product as important as important to Magic's success as MTGO, it's become clear that Wizards is and has always been out of their depth. It's 2014. We have MMOs and FPS games that can host hundreds of players at the same time. There is no reason why translating a card game to that medium should be anything approaching a challenge to a competent studio.

Our only real hope at this point is that Hasbro takes it out of their hands and gives it to people who aren't mired in an office environment of learned helplessness and terrible communication.

M15 - Avacyn, Guardian Angel による exal_onlineにおいて magicTCG

[–]strolpolNeeds to eat a hat 10 ポイント11 ポイント

Honestly not impressed. Flavor-wise, it would have made more sense if she granted indestructibility until EoT instead of preventing damage, and it would have made her worth playing if she could protect herself. As she is, five mana, does nothing when you play her, and yes, the cliche 'dies to removal' applies.

I think the bigger sin is that she just doesn't feel legendary. This feels very much like a generic angel card design that had Avacyn's name and art slapped on it for name recognition.

Her stats are strong enough that she'll probably see some level of play somewhere, probably with people trying to make Monowhite Devotion work. I just wish they hadn't dragged one of the most memorable legendary angels from the past decade onto a new card that's middling at best.

[–]strolpolNeeds to eat a hat 5 ポイント6 ポイント

While I think it's a flavor win, the people who costed this really should have cut both costs by at least one. There's enough downside to playing this to make that reasonable; failing that, there should have been a toughness boost, or lifelink, or something else. Godsend costs the same to cast and equip, albeit with colored mana and at mythic. Even so, I like the card from a casual standpoint, though I'll never be very happy to see it in my draft packs.

I feel like Triton Shorestalker should be looked at. A one-drop unblockable in a deck with a million anthem effects is no joke. At some point, the opponent has to deal with it, which is a pretty solid point in favor of any one-drop.
