I get where you, wendy, and others coming from, but I'm too stubborn to back down. Just how I would never list no misandry in the sidebar a rule, because I don't believe in it, to piss off my detractors, and as a way to easy out trolls and people who want to fight over it.

I'm not saying it isn't a gendered slur, or that I should be super proud of using it and so should everyone else. Or that you must agree with me or not judge me for using it. We equally apply the rules here, for the most part. It does make us a better place for it, equally applying the rules.

I've used multiple arguments here, including the one where I just felt like it. I don't flagrantly break the rules here in any fashion, and while I will accept peoples disappointment in my behavior, I am confident in the work I have put in to make this a qualty place and to support the people who post here, mod here, and comment here.

Men are in a position of privilege. A dick is seen as something powerful. Whereas a woman's vagina is seen as something weak, women are seen as something weak. The ultimate insult you can call a man is weak, thereby a woman, thereby inferring he is the same as her vagina. I personally feel that vaginas are the strongest, most resilient body parts out there, but that's just me.

What is strange is that I don't have men here complaining that they are hurt by it, or that I am diminishing their safe space, other than the TRP troll. Two women who are offended by it, I apologize, and I take responsibility for it.

For certain things about feminism using something to stoop to their level I do agree on. It doesn't make feminists in general look good. I'm pretty radical in my feminism, and somethings I wont budge on to please a small group of people, when it serves as a tool for me to get rid of people that use it for a fight.

I am better than the groups I am pitted against, because while I use the word dick once in a while, I don't commit other travesties or try to intentionally hurt people. We don't allow people to body shame even creeps who have their dicks posted up here. We don't allow people to say all men are creeps, all men want sex, or all men are perverts. The other mods here are amazingly progressive in addressing sexism from both sides.

I treat people how I want to be treated. I also treat people like a mirror, you get what you give. That asshole gave shit, I returned shit. That's fine that people don't like the way I went about it. As a mirror, you reply to be respectfully and with thoughtful words, so I return them. They may not be the ones you want to see, and you may be disappointed in me, and I accept that.

You know what makes me uneasy? From the start of modding here I've been called a white knight, a pussy, a mangaina, a c word. Have I ever been called a dick? Not once. If dick had the same power, the same ability to hurt people, the same usage on reddit to disparage a gender, I would change my stance. This is situational, and people may not care for it, I don't care for the way things are and this is how I'm addressing it. A little immature of me, a little petty, a little insensitive, but this place was never intended to protect the majority of opinions on reddit. It was specifically meant to be the opposite. We protect men who are minorities. By race, by religion, by class, by sexual orientation, and by the gender they identify with. I'm not here to coddle boys feelings who can't bear seeing the word dick as an insult when the c word is thrown around everywhere else wantonly. I appreciate that it makes a few of you uncomfortable seeing a mod use it, and that it makes you uneasy. I still trudge on supporting people in here as best I can, with resources, with advice, the people who are most vulnerable, the people who face threats the most. With young teenagers who message me for advice on how to deal with an adult stalking them or blackmailing them, with people who want resources on how to deal with harassment. Sometimes I'll fuck up and people won't like it or me, and I'm ok with that.

If other mods don't like seeing dick, they can remove it, you can not like it, but as long as reddit is the way it is, and I am main mod of this place, I will act as I see fit. I have a healthy dose of empathy for a great range of issues, using this word is lowest on my list.
