I gotta admit I occasionally lurk on r/HipHopHeads to see what brutally honest non-fans say about my shit. I think it's good to do that because the other side of the coin is only listening to the opinions of fans who love my material and are going to stroke my ego. And I can't get better if I'm only listening to the opinions of people who think my music is perfect (it's not). I have the luxury of getting positive reinforcement about my work all the time, so I like to see what people who think I suck have to say. Sometimes they articulate what they don't like about me really well, and if I take that with a grain of salt, I can learn from it

You're so grounded. A lot of people, musicians included, would ignore the hater's opinions of their work.

Falling from 60 feet up will certainly ground you.

"The most relevant..." ahh fuck it.

Then Suge Knight should have let go?

Critics != Haters, though

Why don't you just suck his dick

Butters, stop making that stupid face!

[–]Achack 3

Not really a "hater" if they actually articulate what they don't like about him really well.

Soo many shades.

Would they?

You just called the dude who lept 3 stories. GROUNDED!

This. I'll be honest never heard any of your stuff. After reading this though, much respect. Giving your music a solid listen. So far so good. =D

Check out cardboard castles pt 2, and his monologue on the letter s, my favorites

[–]Deus_Viator 2 ポイント3 ポイント

I assume you mean Tiny Glowing Screens pt 2. My favourite song of his by absolute miles.

Not really a song - just some amazing poetry. Also my favorite work of his. The first time I heard it, I felt as though my heart couldn't take it all in and give it justice. When anything does that to me, I pay attention to it. :)

The first time I heard it, I was like "he sounds like a fucking honky."

I want to say watsky that I post on hip hop heads all the time and I love your shit. I have all your albums and am anxiously waiting for another. Your a great lyricist and artist even if you do get a little crazy and jump of crazy high balcony's :) thanks for the great music!

Edit: the dude below me is right

[–]Ormagan 2

Is the word lyrist? I thought it was lyricist, but whatever, I agree, dude is crazy good with words.

it's lyricist, dude just made a typo

Careful there man, don't bust a nut lol

People who are into hip-hop generally dont like your music because it is rap for corny, suburban, white people (ie. vast majority of reddit)

I'm that demographic to a T. Before I came across Watsky, Mc Lars, mc frontalot, etc I thought I hated hip hop. Turns out I just can't relate to all the mainstream stuff.

why does all hip hop music you enjoy have to be relateable? can't you enjoy it for the quality of the music?

same reason gun toting gangsters don't listen to watsky

Naw its cause he's corny lol

I find the over the top ego and false bravado involved in most mainstream hip hop to be off putting. I like the rhymes and rhythm of it all but much of the culture just doesn't work for me.

ok but you do realise that watsky isn't the only type of alt hip hop out there?

if you like watsky you'd probably quite like atmosphere (who are actually rly good imo)

MC Lars is one of my favorites

Which makes you think, maybe all the rap on HHH is rap for "corny, suburban, white people" that are afraid to look like "corny, suburban, white people," and everybody else just listens to whatever the fuck they want, regardless of the accent on the hook.

I'm disappointed because I haven't heard enough of your music to shit on it :(

Do you think your songs would be more appealing if you tried to add a deeper meaning to it, I mean like with your song Whoa Whoa Whoa, I understand that you're trying to state that you're hot shit and stuff like that, but when you were actually writing the song did you actual ground any personal emotion into what you were feeling.

I like you're style, I like that you have confidence, I feel that you have so much more potential. I feel like your song All You Can Do would be one of your better works though, you should keep up the good work, but I really feel like you end up switching your song style in the middle of your song into something deeper with lyrics such as "I got my cock out" and things like that. Personally it fucks up the vibe for me, you got major talent though, a lot of the things you make is pure poetry and i'm not asking you to change that, but it just feels like you have the same format with a lot of your songs and you might want to try switching that up. Good luck mate, you have a lot ahead of you so far as your hidden talent

the lyric you're referring to on "all you can do" is "it's like i'm limping into heaven while my dick is out." it's not a line about whipping my cock out haha, the whole second verse is an extended metaphor for my stage dive in London, saying it's as if I was trying to join the '27 club' (i'm 27 and a bunch of iconic musicians died at that age), and that the reason i survived the jump was because none of those legendary musicians wanted to hang out with me in heaven, so i was sent back down.

i'm all for listening to criticism, but feel free to torrent the new album and see if you still feel the same way. maybe 3 out of 16 tracks on the project could be considered silly (whoa whoa whoa being one of them)

Only Watksy would promote torrenting his album

You're the best Watsky. Keep on keeping on.

I was at your show in Indianapolis with my wife. We drove like 5 hours to come watch you. I have to admit me and my wife didn't really fit in. We're just a couple from the country but I really enjoyed hearing you rap and I got to meet you after the show. So overall a fun trip to the big city.

Some comment on youtube always manages to surprise me by being especially hateful. I hope they don't register.

[–]Butlerbeast 0

Been a fan of yours since I heard your pale kid raps fast, maybe a lil earlier than that. I'll be seeing you in October in Houston. I think that'll be your first time here. Saw Wax last year, was amazing. Anyways. going off topic, I don't see a reason to hate on someone who has such a good head on their shoulders. You seem like a well rounded person, plus we all do crazy stuff when it calls for it, maybe not jump from that high but still. A few questions, what's stopping you from working with bigger name artist? I feel like you would do well with a few upcoming artists. Do you want to make of group of artist that stand up to par with you? Like make your own label.

Last thing, always watch your stuff on sourefed, you have very unique and crazy stories. I would love to sit and talk and just pick your brain about random things in life. Btw I have your last CD with your autograph and just ordered this one.

[–]Snackhat 0

I am personally not a fan of your music, but I have infinite respect for you for doing this. So many artists will only listen to the positive side of their fans. Kudos.

Whenever I tell anyone about your music and lyrics, the very first thing I say to describe it is "It's corny rap. And I mean that in the best way possible." A lot of simple lifes truths are hilariously corny, and that's why I love the music. Sometimes I'll also describe your style as "Full disclosure hip-hop," but that's just me stealing your lyrics.

Fuckin a this is some real shit.

This is exactly what Burnie Burns of Roosterteeth says, and he's become massively successful over the last decade.

I'm a big fan and if you ever need anyone to stroke your ego let me know!

What are your thoughts on Mac Lethal?

As a fan of the indie HH culture, I like that he is able to have fun on things like YouTube, but most of his albums are rather deep/emotional/introspective...I glanced your shit but didn't catch much of that.

I could be wrong...here is a chance to convince me otherwise.

I could be right, and I respect to each their own, no hard feelings and best of luck

[–]Jah-Eazy -1

I wish everyone did this or at least admitted that they do it.

[–]Mormonhelmet -2

You. You're the kind of musician I like. Keep giving us music!

I think you (and many people) could teach Bieber a lesson or 2 about varied voices.
