Here we have another example of Illogical Reasoning When Confronted With Privilege and Racism. Black girls straightening their hair is not the same as white girls wearing box braids.

Black Standards of Beauty did not force white women to put dangerous chemicals on their hair in order to gain a notch on the “you’re a person” measurement stick.

Black Standards of Beauty do not create laws forcing white women to cover their hair in order gain a notch on the “you’re worthy of respect” measurement stick.

Black Beauty Standards did not create a system of interalized racism that told white women they must not be on the wrong shade of a “paper bag test” in order to gain a notch on the “you’re beautiful” measurement stick.

Black Standards of Beauty did not dehumanize white women and create stereotypes of having “nasty, dirty, unmanageable” hair in order to take a notch away from the “you’re worthy of love and protection” measurement stick.

Black Standards of Beauty did not create a multi-billion dollar beauty industry while completely ignoring anyone darker than a warm beige in order to take away a notch on the “your skin color is normal” stick.

White Standards of Beauty, Racism and Imperialism did all of these things and more TO Black Women and other Women of Color.

So when you try to be cute with that illogical ass faux argument of Black Women straightening their hair remember
