#dontbethatgirl

Are these f*cking real?!? I really hope not, because I am OUTRAGED!

What’s there to be outraged about?

The message here is basically “I took advantage of an incapacitated woman, and now she’s accusing me of rape. I’m the real victim here, she’s just a slut.” If a woman is drunk or in any other way unable to give consent it is RAPE. That is why I’m outraged

It did not say so anywhere. And you can’t really blame anyone if the man is intoxicated too.

Let’s look at some statistics here.

United Kingdom:
http://www.rapecrisis.org.uk/Statistics2.php
"Approximately 85,000 women are raped on average in England and Wales every year
Over 400,000 women are sexually assaulted each year
1 in 5 women (aged 16 - 59) has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16.”

United States:
“only about 40% of rapes are ever reported to the police, and this is partly because victims know that if their claim becomes public, their every behavior will be scrutinized, they will be shamed for their sexual history, and they will be labeled as lunatic, psychotic, paranoid, and manipulative. Just because someone does not report their crime does not mean it did not happen. Furthermore, only one in two claims lead to prosecution, so if the DA decides not to prosecute, that says nothing about whether or not it happened”. (http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/reporting-rates)

False Rape Charges:
http://web.stanford.edu/group/maan/cgi-bin/?page_id=297
"Only about 2% of all rape and related sex charges are determined to be false, the same percentage as for other felonies (FBI). So while they do happen, and they are very problematic when they do, people claim that allegations are false far more frequently than they are and far more frequently than for other crimes. Put another way, we are much more likely to disbelieve a woman if she says she was raped than if she says she was robbed, but for no good reason."

Make of it what you will.

That’s, of course, awful. But I don’t see what it has to do with the initial post.

“only about 40% of rapes are ever reported to the police, and this is partly because victims know that if their claim becomes public, their every behavior will be scrutinized, they will be shamed for their sexual history, and they will be labeled as lunatic, psychotic, paranoid, and manipulative.”.

I honestly think the ideas that they will be labeled as lunatics, physchotics and so on is overblown. Every time I’ve heard of a rape victim people rush to comfort them.

Only about 2% of all rape and related sex charges are determined to be false, the same percentage as for other felonies (FBI). So while they do happen, and they are very problematic when they do, people claim that allegations are false far more frequently than they are and far more frequently than for other crimes. Put another way, we are much more likely to disbelieve a woman if she says she was raped than if she says she was robbed, but for no good reason

The reason we doubt women when it comes to accusatins of rape compared to things like robbery is because they’re two very different crimes. Robbery can be investigated and so on, stolen items can be found. Rape is usually one persons word versus another persons word.

Studies generally show 2-8 percent of rape cases are proven false. But to say that the rest of the accusations are true is assuming guilty before charged. I believe it’s around 10-15 percent of rape cases where the perpetrator is proven guilty.

But this does still not touch upon the initial post.

Over 80% of rape cases are not reported because women are afraid people will accuse them of ‘crying rape’. Of the less than 20% that are reported, only half the men are convicted, as people wrongly believe the woman is ‘crying rape’. Of that 10%, only 2% of men are actually falsely accused.

Reports of ‘crying rape’ are massively over inflated, stop women coming forward, and allow actual rapists to go free.

Of that 10%, only 2% of men are actually falsely accused.”. You’re simply assuming that all the other men were rapists. But that’s not how our system works. It’s not guilty until proven innocent, it’s innocent until proven guilty. So if half the men are convicted, juridically, the remaining group is falsily accused.

I would love to believe all those men were innocent. Unfortunately, many rapists are not convicted due to lack of evidence, or the jury being biased based on what the woman was wearing, or if she was alone, or if she was in a dangerous place. That does not mean the crime didn’t take place.

No jury pardons a rapist due to the clothe a woman is wearing(Atleast not in the western world), that would be true victim-blaming. And it is true that they are not convicted due to evidence, but you’re simply assuming they’re guilty! I’m saying we can’t know.

In court, women are asked what they were wearing, if they were drunk, if they were alone, if they watched their drink, did they lead him on… That means the jury is thinking about these things when they make their verdict.

They ask these questions to get a better picture of what exactly happened.  Was she drunk, because that would indicate her ability to give consent.  What was she wearing because that could indicate she may have been targeted based on how easily the rapist could disrobe her and commit his act before getting away.  Were they alone, because if there are witnesses, someone could offer more insight, and it wouldn’t be a case of his word against hers anymore.  ”Did they lead him on” is clearly inflammatory on your part, they ask about her behavior to determine if there was any misunderstanding as to her consent.  If she made her position clear that she didn’t want to progress to sexual acts, or if she was actively seducing him.  I’m sure you’re going to want to call me a rape apologist for mentioning that there do exist women who are actually into the act, then come to regret it later and call it rape to either cover up for themselves because they think what they did was slutty, or because they had a boyfriend and want to cover up infidelity.

Y’all really blow the victim blaming in rape cases out of proportion to the extent that you refuse to even attempt to understand the reasoning behind even having a trial.  Victim blaming for female rape victims isn’t even approaching the same level as the victim blaming for male rape victims (especially of female perpetrators).

Men get victim blamed so hard, if the woman claims he was the rapist and not her, her word will be taken over his, and he’ll face jailtime for getting raped.  So don’t be a dude, get drunk and pass out around a woman that wants your dick.  She can force you to penetrate her while you’re unconscious, and if you wake up and find her on top of you it’s too late.  Such as was the case for James Landrith, [source here].

Victim blaming does happen, and it is a problem, but you feminists still blow it out of proportion as if you don’t ever get justice, which simply is not true.
