Couple things on the Dem word graph: they want Congress to do their job and I don't see a single mention of Constitution which is very prominent in the GOP graph.

I do hope they realize that their Sen Reid has tabled nearly every piece of legislation coming out of the House instead of allowing senators the ability to debate and even modify bills. But all the talk is about GOP obstructionism. Very odd.

The fact the Constitution doesn't appear says a lot about the difference between Dems and GOP. I really believe Dems see much of the Constitution as more of an obstacle to be overcome than a guiding principle.

while President Obama’s approval number hit an all time low of 40 percent for this poll

seems impossible...40% ??? who are those people? I would believe 20-25% but not 40

welcome to the world of Propaganda, where everything is slanted to seem better than it really is.

Yeah they may be fed up, but the Free Shit ArmyTM will still vote (D) no matter what. Count on it.

And whatever catchphrase(TM) army you're part of will still vote (R) no matter what. But I'm not going to count on it. I'm going to hope both of you can move away from the distraction issues you both obsess over and meet me, not in the middle, but off to the side. Vote Independent 2016.

"Independent" means jack shit. Vote for whoever you personally think aligns with your views the most.

I'm pretty sure its commonly understood to mean not republican or democrat, but if that makes you feel better about being ideologically intractable, then I'd encourage you to consider a) how effectively your politcians are implementing your dogma and b) whether or not the rest of the people with whom you share this country are likely of being convinced of your ideology, because if the chances are poor you mayyyy want to consider a different approach because I'm pretty sure no one that doesn't already agree with you is going to find themselves swayed by the fellas (I assume) youre backing now. Just saying. No need to get emotional. This is politics, not sports. A certain level of detached objectivism does much to grease the gears of discourse.

It seems that conservatives take a fundamentally negative / pessimistic view of humanity ("All people want is to get things for themselves, fuck the rest of the world") and progressives have a fundamentally optimistic ("All people want society as a whole to do well"). Am I wrong?

[–]-mrcoxie 4 ポイント5 ポイント

You're only slightly wrong.

It's more like, conservatives have a negative outlook on the future and positive outlook on the past.

Liberals have the exact opposite.

But we all hate the present.

I generally encounter the opposite from progressives. Progressives assume the worst in people, hence regulate the shit out of them to prevent them from harming something. Environmentalists, 'cause the corporations' types, gun-grabbers, ect. I wouldn't say that conservatives view 'all people want society to do well' as much as all people should have the opportunity to do that if they want.
