which has a ridiculous amount of privacy issues

No, it doesn't. The people who have swallowed the FUD that was originally whipped up by a kook associated with Alex Jones' InfoWars site and posted at the HuffPoo should have their smartphones confiscated and be limited to old flip phones with T9 texting. They're clearly too stupid to merit more advanced devices.

Read this - Facebook Messenger permissions: Not as scary as the stories might have you believe - and stop being a festering wellspring of ignorance and fear! Pass it on.

Sorry but that article doesn't do anything for me. I get that it explains the permissions but I don't buy sentences like

Facebook Messenger uses an SMS to confirm your phone number when you decide to give it to Facebook.

Facebook is known for accessing your private data no matter if you give it to them or not, I don't need this feature and I don't want it! Same goes for voice recordings or reading my contacts, I don't use it and yet there is no way to deny this 'feature' (well for me there is with XPrivacy).

It's sad that Android doesn't give its users the ability to deny this 'feature' like iOS does, at least it doesn't without root.

Whatever. Live in fear that Facebook is spying on you because you're oh so interesting. Pfft.

This is what I hate about the internet, so many people spreading misinformation, you're just pretending like the NSA revelations have never happened. And then you look down on me because I actually give a shit about my privacy (and now you'll probably tell me that I shouldn't use Facebook/the internet/anything that is an electronic device if I want privacy).

Facebook is monitoring you closely and so is the NSA and other government agencies, are you actually denying this?

No, I'm saying your a frightened sheep who probably has 30 apps on your phone with the exact same permissions that you're crapping yourself over Messenger having. The only reason you haven't soiled yourself about those is because it's not the hot, trendy fear du jour like this hysterical lemming stampede is.

Where did I saw ANYTHING about the NSA, much less deny the NSA is spying on us? A: I didn't, you imagined it just like you imagine you are so special that FaceSpace feels the need to keep close tabs on you. Sorry, Bub, you aren't important. No one cares about you. In fact, if there was a panopticon tracking every single person on the planet, the Illuminati would probably turn off your tracker because they really don't want to know where you are.

Here's your theme song.

You're full of shit. I research the apps that I install so that I choose the ones that have the best privacy options out of the box. Also it' definitely matters if it's a big company like Facebook, who is known for not giving a rats ass about your privacy or if it's just some guy who wrote the app.

Where did I saw ANYTHING about the NSA, much less deny the NSA is spying on us?

You didn't, but you implied that it doesn't matter if Facebook has my data or not.

"Live in fear that Facebook is spying on you because you're oh so interesting. Pfft."

No one cares about you.

Not true, again the Snowden relevations have shown that there is mass surveillance in place.

I'm really not sure what you're trying to accomplish here, but it surely isn't helping. If you don't mind your privacy that's fine, but please don't spread misinformation and play down important issues.

Here's your theme song

I don't get it, shouldn't this be your theme song since you're basically saying "Who cares"?
