The left wing media comes out in droves to decry children dying in Israel, but children get slaughtered in Iraq in the name of Islam and we get crickets. I've never been one to be conspiratorial about an opponent's motives, but the liberal media has certainly given me cause to question theirs.

I think the problem is that it's hard to figure out what to do about it. To stop the massacres in Syria and Iraq we have to send troops, probably declare war, but we have peaceful means to influence the Israelis.

So on a philosophical level I agree 100%, it's hypocritical. On a pragmatic level though, it honestly makes sense. Maybe it's time we change our non-involvement stance when it comes to ISIS though. I'm not sure. They brought up the point on the news this morning that previously ISIS was about 10,000 troops and didn't have united support - they just fed off the internal disdain for the Iraqi government. Once the US started getting involved though, they started rallying around the idea of opposing us. I have no idea what would result in the least total number of casualties, even though I think military involvement is the morally right path.

Its easy. You kill them. So easy even a drone can do it...........

[–]SaladProblems 5 ポイント6 ポイント

We've tried that before and it seems to rally more of them to the cause.

[–]UmbrellaResearchCorp 6 ポイント7 ポイント

Then kill more. It's really not that hard.

We have this huge "military industrial complex" that people whine and bitch about. How about we use the fucking thing?

ISIS is killing and beheading children. Are we REALLY pissing and moaning about the 2nd and 3rd order affects here? Christ almighty, it could be raining pussy and you idiots would be complaining there's not enough assholes.

I'll put in my two cents here. Ultimately, they're an enemy, and enemies can be beat. This is a completely different kind of enemy, but ultimately they're humans. We have to get personal, beat them, and hopefully over time the world will stop with the buyers remorse and realize that we can't just try to appease these kinds of folks.

Why would we declare war on Iraq just to help them with some air support or something?

[–]ticklemythigh 4 ポイント5 ポイント

ISIS was all over the news last night. The article you linked has a CNN report about this. Obama authorized air strikes last night. It's front page on the NYTimes. Not really sure how you can say the media has been ignoring this.

This has been the cover story of CNN for the last 48 hours or so, near top posts on /r/worldnews and on the front page of WaPo for the last few days.

I'm not going to sample every media outlet, but from the ones expose myself to, which many consider "left-wing", it's getting plenty of attention.

What are you going on about?

This sounds like contrived outrage.

Keep telling yourself that if it's what you need to do

So with news that we're going to drone strike them back into a slightly earlier stone age, are we all on board with the President for just a moment?

[–]jgardnerReagan Conservative 0 ポイント1 ポイント

Drones are not enough. You need boots on the ground to take and hold territory and to give the Jihadis a target to shoot at rather than children. Our soldiers and soldiers supported by us tend to fight back. Children and soldiers of a failed regime that have 0 support from the US tend to be easy pickings.

[–]MomentOfXen 0 ポイント1 ポイント

So would the prevalent thought from the "other side" be we left too early? Or simply that we need to go back?

Got it, had to subscribe.

The Iraq Army are the boots on the ground. If we could give them some awesome air support, their morale would probably go up ten fold and actually do their job.

Well, my point is nothing to do with us fighting ISIS. It's about the liberal media's opportunistic rhetoric. As for being behind the president, I haven't heard what the plan is. We launched two 500 pound bombs according to what I saw a little while ago, but that's all I know of so far. I'm still waiting on him to lay out his plan. If the plan is going all in and decimating ISIS, then yes, I'm on board.

I'm a Liberal leaning moderate (strictly as a result of perceived importance of social issues, economic I lean right), and even I can't possibly imagine why anyone would watch any of the big networks anymore (MSNBC, CNN and Fox are all complete garbage. You're better informed reading The Onion).

But very sensible standpoint, bravo. Personally I'd like to see us become more isolationist, but in this aspect I'd hope we can all come together and say "fuck ISIS, sometimes we just need to kill some bastards."

[–]DevonWeeksModerate Conservative[S] 1 ポイント2 ポイント

Well said, and agreed.

I think he's late to the party, but yes if we give air support to the Iraqi military to fight off ISIS I will be on board for that.

I, as well as most conservatives I know, have been on board with the overseas air missions, not closing gitmo, and all the other naive foreign policy campaign promises he immediately abandoned upon entering the White House.
