Speech perception in infants
According to a magnetoencephalography study of 57 infants, infants undergo a transition between 7 and 11 months of age in which native and foreign speech sounds activate motor and auditory brain regions in patterns similar to those seen in adults, suggesting that speech perception involves a coupling of auditory and motor brain regions to analyze speech sounds and predict how to reproduce them. -
