Hey, I'm Alice Hewitt. She/her/hers. I'm 18 and live in Newcastle, England. It's a pleasure to meet you all. Please read my about and faq before asking as I may have already answered your question!
House Slytherin. House Tyrell.

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy and really enjoyed it! However as always I take issue with the representation of disability

A man’s prosthetic leg is removed (granted with his permission) for a joke and he is mocked for ‘hopping around’ afterwards

Another disabled man, this time with a prosthetic eye, is also almost the brunt of a removing it for a joke gag

In both cases, the men serve as nothing more than a joke, are treated as if their body can be removed and used by somebody else because they are disabled and singled them out solely so the jokes would be ‘edgy’ because they were about an oppressed group

Disabled people deserve to be more than a side joke in these movies and I was deeply disappointed by this.
