Right, you signed up ad were present during the Golden Age. However, not everyone has all the games they've made available on PS+.

So for you, you're spending money on new free games(lol), and the perk of keeping the old ones.

However, for a lot of us, the games we got weren't as grandiose. And if they signed up this year then I can't blame them for being pissed off.

When was the Golden Age? I've been a member for a few years now, and I think my favorite run of games was the first quarter this year with Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Batman: Arkham City, DmC, and Brothers.

I get arguments that this summer is weaker than past years. And I get that the service ain't exactly lights out for PS4 users.

But I don't think the 2014 collection list reads like a catalogue of poops.

Don't go bringing facts to this party!! :)

I think PS+ can be its own worst enemy sometimes. There have been some freakin' stellar months when we've got games like those you mentioned above. I see those as bonus months. Other months, I've been less than thrilled but I try the games out of curiosity and am sometimes pleasantly surprised. The problem is, the awesome months make the others look worse than they are.

I've been a PS+ member since July 2013. For my £80 (2 years. I'm only 13 months through) I've got to try 31 PS3 games (I'm not even including others I've still not bothered to install like PES and NBA). That's £2.50 per game. Bargain. I could have bought 4 games through Amazon for £80. As I see it, for the annual subscription, if I get 2 games that give me joy, PS+ has paid for itself. The fact it far exceeds that shows it's brilliant value for money.

There are some games I'd love to come out on PS+. The Last of Us, Assassins Creed IV, South Park: The Stick of Truth, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, GTAV, Splinter Cell: Blacklist.... the list goes on. Some seem to think for £40 /$50 a year they should get all the games they want to play AND should get them near the release date. Utter fantasy. The sense of entitlement from the complainers is mind-blowing. It's up there with those full of butthurt when a game they bought 6 months prior appears in the IGC.

£1.60 a game for 24 games in a year. Bargain. For those who complain month after month, cancel your membership. For those who believe Sony is fleecing them, buy an XBox. I think the simple fact is people just love complaining.

If you've never played TLOU, I'd go out and buy it if it's not on PS+ by October. It's an amazing game. I played through about 3 times and now I'm wanting to try it again.

It's always been on my list but now it's been remastered, I've decided to wait until I get a PS4. And I plan to get a PS4 once Arkham Knight or Uncharted 4 get released. Whichever comes out first. Then I'll be all over it.

If they signed up this year (after the IGC disappeared) they're paying 50$ for online play on PS4, cloud storage (1GB per platform), discounts, free PS3 Themes and avatars, and 24+ PS3 games, 24+ PSVita games and 24+ PS4 games.

All of these games will stay yours for as long as you're a member (which could basically be forever as long as the service doesn't stop) and the price of renting each individual game lowers exponentially over time.

Saying that this is a bad deal because you didn't like a specific game is silly, saying this is a bad deal because you already bought some of the games is also silly (because you constantly get day 1 free games to combat that)

Saying this is a bad deal because you only like specific genres is silly too - almost every genre is represented on every platform every year.

Saying that this is a bad deal because PS4 only gets lower cost titles would be a reasonable complaint, however this is only the 1st year of the platform, expecting 60$ games to appear before dropping to 20$ or less is ridiculous, and was never the case on PS3 either. All AAA PS3 PS+ games were given at least 6-8 months after their release. It is unreasonable to demand a game that's less than a year old to be free, if we do get these, it'll be awesome.

Despite the above, many retail high production PS4 titles have been heavily discounted on PS+, just last week Injustice and Lego Marvel were both less than 10$ for PS+ members.

Also, the "I don't like any of the games" isn't really a valid complaint either - the Metacritic average of PS+ games is around 75-85, which us very high, meaning that universally these are good games.

All of the above leads every sensible person to consider those that regularly complain unjustifiably as whiners or entitled.

What do you mean "after the IGC disappeared?" I signed up two months ago when I got my PS4 and between Trine 2, Strider, Fez, and Road Not Taken I feel like I'm getting a decent Instand Game Collection going.

[–]LeeorV 1 ポイント2 ポイント

up until a couple of months ago, and starting from Approx. 2 years ago, there was a thing called the "Instant Game Collection", which comprised of 12 PS3 games (5 Retail-class, 7 Digital-class), 6 PSVita games, and 2 PS4 games.

Every month approx. 2 Vita games, 4 PS3 games and 1 PS4 game would rotate out and be replaced with new games.

They changed that recently, dropped the 20 games, and instead give you 2 PS3, 2 PS4 and 2 PSVita games per month, and they're the only ones available.

for an old user like me, this is close to no difference, since I already had "purchased" all of the 20 free games, for a new user though, it meas they get an initial 6 games (2 per platform) instead of 20. 6 games is a lot, but it's hardly an "instant game collection".

[–]docbauiesDocbauies 2 ポイント3 ポイント

it is literally an instant game collection. sorry, but it just takes a few months to build a back catalog. not to mention people are now getting double the ps4, and regular vita games. it's not like the 6 games disappear. they're always available, same as the old version of the igc.

[–]LeeorV -1 ポイント0 ポイント

Yeah, but it's 6 instead of 20.

Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% satisfied with the service, but I think they shouldn't have dropped the bigger "collection" feel it have new subscribers.

It's still a game collection, just no longer "instant" ;)

[–]docbauiesDocbauies 1 ポイント2 ポイント

no. it's still instant. you get it the instant you sign up. i don't think the words mean what you think they mean.

[–]LeeorV 1 ポイント2 ポイント

You get 2 games per platform when you sign up, whereas you used to get 12 PS3 games, 6 PSVita games and 2 PS4 games.

that's a significant difference, and 2 games are not a collection by any standard.

[–]docbauiesDocbauies 0 ポイント1 ポイント

but it's a 6 game collection, and then 12, and then 18, ad nauseum. just because you don't have the systems doesn't mean the game collection doesn't exist.

[–]LeeorV 0 ポイント1 ポイント

Forget it, we're arguing semantics for no reason whatsoever. Drop it.

I'm a day 1 ps+ subscriber and have all 3 platforms and 103 platinum trophies. You're preaching to the choir.

[–]docbauiesDocbauies 1 ポイント2 ポイント

the golden age like a few months ago when you could get tomb raider and bioshock infinite?
it's like investing. the best time to invest was 20 years ago. the second best time to invest is right now.
your back catalog will grow. there will be good games. patience is a virtue.

[–]Lecter07AlotLikeMacabre -2 ポイント-1 ポイント

Golden Age when I missed out on the OG Bioshock, Dark Souls, the OG Borderlands. There are others but atm I can't think of any.

[–]docbauiesDocbauies 1 ポイント2 ポイント

you missed a few games. but there will be others. if you want to play those games, you can find them in the $5 bin at gamestop.

[–]DarkAncelotDarkAncelot 1 ポイント2 ポイント

Dark Souls was never on the IGC.
