Tremendous growth. So did we all agree to meet at Stub hub to send Chivas off with a sellout?

EDIT: I don't have the time or ability to get something like this off the ground. But if someone wants to pick it up and try to get a group together for the trip out, feel free.

That would actually be pretty cool.

Suddenly I wish I was in LA

Words never uttered by people who have already been there.

I'm sorry your screenplay sucked.

[–]Sporting Kansas Cityabloomquist 12

My impression of LA after two trips: Smog and Cement for as far as the eye can see...which is about a mile.

[–]Major League Soccernot_a_spoof_account 6

Concrete in a city surprised you? What, do they make buildings out of adobe in KC?

[–]Seattle Sounders NASLmkstnr 5

Brick. Lots of brick.

every building in KC is made of wood which is why tornadoes fuck that place up year after year they don't learn

[–]San Jose Earthquakesconstantlyoff 6

You must be doing it wrong, LA as a city has tons of upside as far as music/culture/art/beaches. The USMNT January games (the pilgrimage to camp cupcake if you will) are some of the most fun around.

Great city for soccer! In addition to all the mls games, in the past year i've seen the usmnt twice, mexico, real madrid, manchester united, everton, juventus. Most people who complain about l.a. are just doing it wrong.

[–]San Jose Earthquakesconstantlyoff 1

Agree. There certainly are downsides to LA, but there are downsides to every city really.

If I was a punk kid going to the disco every night, I might be okay with it. The way I see L.A. is that it's hot, dirty, and over crowded. IT's probably the only place where you are just as likely to be in a traffic jam at 11 pm on Tuesday as you are at 9 am Wednesday. If there is anything fun to do you need reservations months/years in advance, or you need an extra 4 hours to wait in line on top of the extra hour or two you just took because of traffic.

I am sure having two soccer teams is great, but the daily grind of that city is un-real, and no amount of roller-coaster rides can make up for it.

Nope. If i want to go to a new restuarant hey there's always a great new place to go. And the food here is unreal. If i want to a nice beach there's multiple ones to choose from. There's always a new art exhibit or gallery to go to. Comedy shows? Check. Great music? Check. If i want a drink i can go to an upscale trendy place, a dive bar, a gastropub or anything in-between. I've never waited more than 30 mins anywhere (and waiting is rare) Any city can be terrible if you don't do it properly. And yeah it's very hot today highs of 82. Is traffic bad? Oh yeah! But if you're smart enough you can get around that. The thing about l.a. Is that you have variety and choice, if you don't like somethig here there's always something else that you can like.

Music, art, and food are far better in Seattle where I used to live. Beer and beaches are far better in San Diego where I live now.

Don't get me wrong, LA is nice compared to a lot of places in the Midwest, or East. It's just that it doesn't hold up very well compared to other West Coast cities like San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, or Vancouver.

[–]San Jose Earthquakesconstantlyoff 2

Are you serious? The music scene in LA is probably the best in the country. I don't have enough experience with NYC to say that for sure, but I can't think of another better city. The variety and quality of shows LA draws is absurd. If I travel anywhere for music, it's LA. Art is a toss up at best, I'd favor LA personally. Foodwise, LA has impressed me significantly more than Seattle, in terms of both variety and quality. Beaches, sure SD is better than LA, the only beaches that are in SD's league are in Hawaii. LA's beaches are still better than any of the other cities you mentioned. Beer isn't my jam, so I'll pass on that one.

I disagree on your statement about how LA holds up against the rest of the West Coast, obviously it depends on where you are in LA, but being from SF, I'd prefer LA in terms of the city overall versus all of the other cities except SF/SD.

To each their own I guess. The one good thing about LA is there is a massive quantity of just about anything (aside from fresh air, trees, and water) so if you can muddle through the traffic to get out to enough places, you'll probably find something you like.

LA is actually full of trees, including several forests. WTF are you even talking about

[–]Major League Soccernot_a_spoof_account 0

How long did you live in LA?

Never. My job sends me up there more than I would like. Plus, living in San Diego often takes you into or through L.A.

[–]Bethlehem Steel FCjpoRS -3

Actually lived there (well, San Bernardino) for a few years.

That said, this is the first time I've wanted to go back.

San bernardino isn't l.a. , it might as well be a whole other state.

[–]Major League Soccernot_a_spoof_account 4

San Bernarbama.

[–]Bethlehem Steel FCjpoRS 0

Okay yes, but my point is that I've more than "been to" LA.

Yeah, you stared at it from a distance.

[–]Chivas USAyourenotwitty 2

Jesus Christ, you know it's shit like this that makes everyone hate Californians, right?

I'm not insulting your hood. It's simply not the same as living in LA proper. It's like someone claiming they know what it's like to live in Manhattan because they grew up in Long Island.

[–]Dallas SidekicksJohnMLTX[S] 1

I would totally fly out there for that. Or make it a road trip with my girlfriend.

[–]San Jose EarthquakesSRQuake 1

Thats very true, I think it would be hilarious if for there last home game, we somehow broke a Stub Hub Center attendance record

[–]Seattle Sounders NASLTasslehoff -1

I'm soooooo down.

But I also only live 13 miles from Stubhub.
