Looks to me like both were engaging in some very careful source citing and some serious rhetorical slights of hand.

This is such an exhausting debate to try to parse, with so much bullshit being flung all over the place. I'm not trying to collapse into lazy false equivalences, but it's so tiresome to see two sides arguing, each making roughly 10 points per post, and then everyone deciding to only focus on the 2 points where the other side was blatantly lying.

The rhetoric gets so incredibly overheated and emotional that trying to sort through it as an interested outsider just wears you out.
