He's not copping to owning an illegal firearm, depending on your state there may not be firearm registration. I live in such a state, have to do the federal paperwork but there is nothing state wise. Even for my CCW it's against state law to maintain a database of issued permits. Gotta love the Midwest.

Right, my point being is that AK-47 isn't banned. He banned trade with Russian AK-47 makers. The gun can still be imported from other countries, just not Russia.

Hate to say, "told ya so." I saw this one coming. Because of the restrictions placed on Russia for importation, it's extremely difficult to get mags and other goodies without paying a significant amount of money. I feel for the guys that bought 5.45 AK-74's, they'll be up a creek without a paddle shortly.
