Can I coin a new term?
I’d like a term for feminine* people who are attracted to only other feminine people. “Gynosexual” means attracted to femininity, but that includes straight men and/or other male identities and I’d like a term just for feminine people.
I guess it would be a broader term for lesbian? One that includes people who don’t want to identify as female or are attracted to femininity and not particularly limited to the female gender.
People with this identity could also identify as lesbian if they chose to do so.
My otterfriend suggested “proquasexual” from the term “propinquus” which means similar. Propinquas is the feminine version, thus proquasexual (and I guess proquusexual for masculinity???) Those look a lot alike tho, so idk.
"Idios" means one’s own, but I don’t like how close it is to an ableist slur.
"Idem" is already taken.
*Note: “feminine” is a lenient term here, and can mean whatever the user feels it does. People have different views on what “feminine” and “masculine” mean.
I’d like some suggestions, advice, or thoughts, especially from people who would identify as this. It’s 2 am and I’m barely awake, so please forgive me if I made any mistakes.
EDIT: What about parasexual? Para meaning “near”? So like, parafemsexual and paramasexual? Or is that too long?
Also what about the prefix a or al? Alfemsexual / almasexual or afemsexual / amasexual?
Aefemsexual / aemasexual (for aer meaning atmosphere, like around feminine/masculine)
Diafemsexual / diamasexual / diasexual (Dia meaning through, across, between)
Equisexual / equifemsexual / equimasexual (equi meaning equal)
Infemsexual / Inmasexual / Insexual (in meaning near)
Perifemsexual / perimasexual / perisexual (peri meaning around)
I honestly think this idea sounds great! I was initially a little wary but I think the fact that you specify that femininity/masculinity here are flexible and subjective to the user’s views was definitely the way to go here.
