If she was white she'd have atleast 15 comments, and I don't care if I get downvoted to oblivion because the Hannah brat who did it for attention is on a 100+.

I just hope for her family sake she gets found.

No true. Difference is if she was white, you'd see newspapers from rural ontario writing about the story as well, and related clicks to websites. The Hannah thing was top news in London Ontario and all surrounding ares for example.

Agreed wholeheartedly

FFS - this story has been up for 2 hours.

Maybe you should keep your hand hovering above the "Racist" button for a little while before accusing r/Toronto or the entire City of being prejudiced in favour of missing white girls. It's actually a pretty disgusting thing to say.

Missing white woman syndrome:

Missing white woman syndrome (MWWS) is a phrase used by social scientists to describe the extensive media coverage, especially in television, of missing person cases that involve young, white, upper-middle class women or girls. Sociologists define the media phenomenon as the undue focus on upper-middle class white women who disappear, with the disproportionate degree of coverage they receive being compared to cases concerning missing women of other ethnicities and social classes, or with missing males of all social classes and ethnicities. The PBS news anchor Gwen Ifill is said to be the originator of the phrase.

Just because it's an observed social phenomenon that exists doesn't mean it's happening in this instance.

My view of OP's straw man confirmation bias is supported by the unique nature of the missing white girl case at issue - you know, the one where the girl disappeared and basically hid from everyone? People are paying attention to that case as much because of her breathtakingly shitty behaviour as they are because she's a pretty white girl.

But all I ever said was that people shouldn't be so quick to find and throw around accusations of racism.

Surely that's not controversial?

EDIT: This link is currently #2 on r/Toronto, just behind Rob Ford doing something shitty again. I'd say that's pretty good for a story that's 8 hours old now. Are we still racist? What if it goes to #1?

I don't disagree with you but how do you know she was just a brat who ran away? We don't have any info yet so let's not make harsh conclusions?

[–]Randomfinn 19 ポイント20 ポイント

Hannah tweeted that she just didn't want to go home and that the #findhannah search was "stupid".

[–]AnswerDog 10 ポイント11 ポイント

So much effort was put into finding someone who didn't want to be found, when we can put it to find other people that might actually need it, like Suad.

Did she do it for attention? She claims not. Was she a brat that ran away? Probably
