Sayuri was a warm and gracious host, who helped me navigate a strange city that I only had a few days in. Even though I arrived after midnight, she met me at the subway station near her house and cooked me a delicious vegetarian meal. Talking to Sayuri was fascinating and helped orientate me to the culture—she also gave me some helpful tips on where to find food nearby and recommended some Japanese literature, which I am looking forward to tracking down in translation. I feel like she really created a friendly, welcoming atmosphere between the different guests as well, and I enjoyed meeting and chatting with a few people from various places around the world. The accommodations were clean and simple with some nice touches (the kimonos on display were gorgeous and the fluffy owl lamp was adorable), and as a vegetarian who was struggling to navigate the restaurants, I definitely appreciated having access to a kitchen. I was in Tokyo for a conference, so having a comfortable, friendly place to crawl back to at the end of a long day was ideal. The location, near Komagome station, made it easy to get around the city quickly; because I didn’t have much free time, this made it much easier to squeeze in some sightseeing. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend staying with Sayuri.

Je suis très mécontente de cette réservation. Je vous ai fait un mail le soir même du 12 juin pour demander le blocage intégral de mon paiement. Je n'ai à ce jour reçu aucune réponse de votre part. L'hôte a été immédiatement dûment informé. C'est inadmissible!!! En fait c'est une guesthouse avec plusieurs chambres. La mienne se trouvait directement devant la porte d'entrée dans la cuisine qui sert de lieu de réunion, de discussion, passage continuel de gens. L'hôte reçoit de nouveaux guests à passé minuit, impossible de dormir, puis elle commence à faire le ménage, vider les poubelles, faire la vaisselle que tout le monde laisse trainer dans le lavabo. Je discute avec elle, rien à faire elle continue. Il faut me fâcher pour qu'enfin je puisse essayer de dormir. La chambre est en face des toilettes, murs de papier, impossible de dormir avec les multiples passages des guets durant la nuit aux toilettes. L'annonce stipulait Beautiful private tatami room, avec de splendides photos d'un pac arborisé. Pas de parc, bruit continuel. Tous les guest de cette adresse sont mécontents, l'annonce ne correspond absolument pas à la réalité. J'ai demandé le blocage immédiat du paiement, Air B&B ne m'a jamais répondu!!!!! C'est la dernière fois que je fais une réservation avec ce site!!! Nathalie Delhaye

We had a great time at Sayuri's place. Sayuri was very helpful and open to any inquiry. She even showed us personally the neighborhood and where the good restaurants and supermarkets are. Our last day we had a small bring-your-own-drink party and Sayuri prepared a delicious traditional japanese dish. As other guests already stated, Sayuri takes Airbnb serious and makes a really great host. We recommend her 100% to everybody. The place is 5 walking minutes from the next metro station. From there you can go everywhere within 20min (about 10min to Ueno and 15min to Tokyo, from where you can go to Nikko or take the Shinkansen to Kyoto. And if you have a Japan Railway Pass you can use the metro line to Ueno/Tokyo for free as it is also a JR line). Restaurants are also close (5min) as well are supermarkets (where they have a lot of prepared Japanese food). We never cooked! :-) The tatami room was big and nice Japanese style. We slept very well. Please note, that you can not close the door with a key and there might be other guests in the rooms upstairs. However, we felt very safe at all times, for us and our luggage. Further benefits of this place were: free green tea, sweets, use of washing machine/dryer (be careful, dries very hot), always clean towels available. All in all, don't miss out to book your stay with Sayuri, when you go to Japan!

I loved the stay in Tokyo! Sayuri (email hidden)! Listening to her was much more interesting than any guided tour through the streets of Tokyo! (and I must say that finding a host who speaks english that good, is like finding a treasure! )The location of the house is also amazing! The variety of the stores and pubs close to house is very diverse. The JR and metro station are also very near by, so it doesn't take long getting into the city. The house itself was very clean and having an air conditioner in the room was also very pleasant! I would absolutely recommend to (email hidden)!!!
