If Taiwan is politically part of China shouldnt they have some influence over their affairs? Taiwan is Chinese Taipei at international events because China acts childishly and protests any attempt for Taiwanese to use their national name or flag. Even without diplomatic action, taiwanese flags disappeared from the Olympic Village in London by some anonymous activiist! And despite not recognizing Taiwan the US supplies TW with weapons and will defend it in case China decides to be an aggressive invader. Taiwanese nationalism is not one of anti-Chinese. It is simply pro-Taiwanese. Your over 120 years apart have created a divide where Taiwanese want to be independent and not part of your nation, please respect that. I travel in China and enjoy China as well, but I'm always frustrated by Chinese attitudes t.oward Taiwan

Patric Wong Beauty not necessary always mean outside, many tourists travel to Taiwan often comments on how nice Taiwanese are and how safe it is to travel in Taiwan, which bring back to the point of this topic. Cindy Liang I have to say ….. if you ever visited more places, you will know the reason why I said so. Why young ppl always leaving TW for working holidays? Why they can only take 22K pay? Too many greedy Taiwanese and too many liar all around this island. I cannot easily find a taxi driver who speak in English especially out of Taipei. And taxi driver always cheating on foreigners to take a longer path. I know Taiwanese ppl pretty well so stop telling me that the most beautiful thing is ppl's heart. They just want your money, every business man making money without conscience. Now even taking MRT in Taipei you should be very very careful, bcs terrible killer could be anywhere beside passengers. You can stay there as long as you want, but for those who care about your healthy, I suggest you get our there asap. So many Nuclear power plants and heavy pollution for all the major rivers in west Taiwan. Potential landslides and debris flow disasters will be there anytime due to tons of typhoon & earthquake frequently. If Taiwan is that good as you said, why rich ppl in Taiwan always looking for being emigrated to Australia/NZ/US/Canada ??? And if you think Taiwan is your country, please go back to read your Constitutional law, and you will find your country is not called Taiwan. Evan your president Mr. Ma would not dare to say he is the president of a independent country.

Not only the amount of travelers have increased since 2013, Taiwan also list #9 from MasterCard Worldwide Index of Global Destination Cities. Are millions of travelers have no where else to go if it is so horrible as you said?
There are plenty rich or average joe love Taiwan and stay in Taiwan, many I know even decided to retire in Taiwan because of it’s excellent health care and many more. If you hate Taiwan so much, why don’t you move out? Do you think natural disaster & nuclear only exist in Taiwan and no where else? Think again. Saying stuff like that only make you sounds very pitiful. I have actually lived many countries to know that not only Taiwan is one of the safest places to travel and also one of the best places to live, especially for female. Ask your female friends to walk along on the street of NYC at night and see how safe it is.
While no one is claiming TW has no crime but by comparing with other countries, TW crime rate is significantly lower, in other words – it’s safer. Problem of Taiwan is too many people like you who do not appreciate what you have rather focusing on the negative, nothing ever good enough.
