ableist language is a thing. it directly harms people. its really ableist to ignore the historical and social context behind those words.

you… you do know words change their meanings over time right? that’s how language works

except words like st*pid and id*ot havent changed meaning. theyre still intelligence based insults that mock people with learning and cognitive disabilities.

what the fuck is the point of the asterisks? if anything you bring more attention to the word because now I spend an extra half second thinking “oh they replaced the i with a *”
