Couldn't get past "she was ETOH"

That doesn't English.

EtOH is shorthand for "Ethanol" (alcohol)

You just said "she was alcohol"

Proper use of the shorthand would be something to the affect of "she smelled of EtOH"

It's shit like this that gives people ammo to call us "ambulance drivers"

So you probably also never say "the patient is sinus tach" and instead always say "the patient's heart is in sinus tachycardia."

Keep fighting the good fight over there on Asshole Island.

Not saying you're wrong.. But calling someone ETOH instead of drunk is generally accepted. At least where I work both nurses/ems crew use it. /shrug

We would say "positive for ETOH" if it's been confirmed by blood test but if it's otherwise speculative, yeah, "smells of ETOH" would be the politically correct term

Hey bud you're missing the point.

This forum is for US, not for them. You know what OP meant and that's all that matters. Here is where our rules and pc and always saying the exact right thing don't matter as much. This isn't documentation of a case, this is venting on the internet. If that's how OP writes reports or talks to John Q then you've got a case to grumble, but for now, how about we sympathize about their frustration in brother/sisterhood.

Sorry, when I'm emotional, I forget to do the rational thing. I forget to ask myself, "What would some judgmental jerk on Reddit say and how would he say it.?".

I'm still dealing with the emotions I have from the crash and from my chief going in for surgery. But hey, at least this fine gentleman gave me the punishment I deserve. He properly labeled me the idiot in this exchange.

Thanks brother. In my service we strive to make one another better too. We just never considered how much being an jerk could help others. You shine as a leader and teacher of men.

All the medical personnel I've come in contact with in my city say it that way. It's simply a way to say someone's drunk without having risking them hearing you and being offended. It's not like we aren't aware it isn't proper grammar.
