when i see like nerd dudes going on about characters, specifically creating characters, that aren’t cis het able white dudes, and how they should just “HAPPEN to be [trait/part of themselves]”, the underlying feeling i get to this stuff, this purported criticism isn’t really ‘this shouldn’t be the sole defining aspect of them, they should be a fully developed and rounded character’ but more ‘i want these traits to be unimportant and invisible in a way that i can continue to keep comfortably ignoring them’
