Our thoughts and prayers are with their families. We hope for their quick and safe return home. We continue to offer our full support for Israel in its search for the missing teens, and we have encouraged full cooperation between the Israeli and Palestinian security services. We understand that cooperation is ongoing.

Officials in the US and Israel urged Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to disarm terrorists in the Gaza Strip Wednesday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief spokesman characterizing Abbas’s condemnation of rocket fire on Wednesday morning as “empty rhetoric.”
The statements came hours after a rocket shot out of Gaza struck a major road in southern Israel, causing damage, but no injuries.
Supreme Court Prayer Ruling Shows Shift in Church-State Barriers

The Supreme Court's decision this week allowing prayer at local-government meetings reflects an ongoing shift among all nine current justices that is lowering barriers between church and state.
The ruling involving invocations at Greece, N.Y., town board meetings is the latest in a string of cases revealing a court that has grown more concerned with protecting religious expression over the secular interests that sometimes conflict. The shift has helped embolden religious groups and their advocates to seek greater deference from government. And in several instances they are winning, extending religious exceptions in tax and regulation cases and expanding the role faith can play in public discourse.
