@sims3famoments Yes&no. There is Auto Aging that you can turn on&off. If NPC Sims die new Sims move in. But it doesn't work exactly like TS3

@crinrict If you want unplayed families to continue beyond their current generation you'll need to try for a baby with them or play as them.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 2, 2014
@Rudy8292 @crinrict Oh no, new households will move in as others die. It pulls from the townie families first; gives them a spot to live.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 2, 2014
@crinrict @Rudy8292 Not entirely sure about the randomly generated ones; not my area. Could remind me to ask when others are in the office.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 2, 2014
@tessimist @crinrict @Iron_Cgull They do age and die.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 2, 2014
@tessimist @crinrict @Iron_Cgull You would switch and play them.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 2, 2014
@crinrict @Ja_elk No, they won't randomly move away. Of course you can move them to a different home or out of the world altogether.

No there is a story progression mod over at Maty, with Pescado being the driving creator :). It works differently than Twallans and is in my opinion better but that it just a preference.
twallan not doing S4
Twallan retired man !!! What a shame !!!
Judging by what I’ve read of the current modders most aren’t going to bother with The Sims 4 as there is so much missing and they aren’t going to play it…
Twallen’s dropped out, and I believe Pescado is not going to be working on it wither…
See my cimments in same post below.
I would not be surprised if pescado quit.
Meh. This sounds like TS3 anyway. SP never really worked all that well, I didn’t notice much changing except for people leaving so I’ll just leave aging on and sims will cycle in and out. No difference. I like that we can change the age lengths for our family and the neighborhood independently of each other and that it will stick for every new save. At least I think I remember them saying that on twitter a couple of days ago…
I liked the SP mod, but I never really used it. It caused noticeable performance issues, I experienced drops in framerate and freezing I didn’t have without it. The game actually runs quite smoothly and I can play for hours at a time with no problem. It was absolutely that mod that was causing it.
I don’t really understand all those Simmers saying SP didn’t work in Sims3. Mine worked just fine! Sims started relationships, got married and had babies without me being there to controle it. Sometimes I could have fun by just opening households to see what had happend since I was playing another household. It worked perfectly, family ties as well. I had kids all over the place
Getting married on their own, having babies….I was a grandparent before I knew it
and if you don’t like that TURN IT OFF!
Wow, you’re lucky! I have to jump between families and make them get married, have a baby etc. They won’t do that on their own
Haha it is so much fun! My sims got devorced and I made the mom or dad move out and if I take a look in the kids “family tree”I would see the mom or dad was remarried and they would have half brothers or sisters!!! And they would have kids and my grown up kid would be a uncle or aunt and I would invite them to christmas parties. Hahaha, you can tell the greatest stories!
I have sims with kids in China, France and Egypt! They would all grow up and get married after some time. Kids move out of the house and stuff.
I did not even use a mod!
Hahaa, that sounds fun!
Same here! One of the best features of TS3, no doubt. I loved checking the family tree and noticing a new baby!
Oh…This is very disappointing.
I just recently got Twilans story progression for my legacy and I was SO happy.
I thought I would be able to have this in sims 4….
It’s actually quite disappointing that they’ve basically thrown SP out of the window. The pools, loading screens and toddlers I could handle, but the fact that I would have to play another family in-between my own gameplay is annoying. Thank you, Graham, for being the barer of bad news for my collection, thank you for saving me £80. Unless there’s something that changes the tide with The Sims 4, I can see my collection ending here.
I must admit, I was already in a bad mood when I wrote this response. This was my initial reaction, but as long as it doesn’t take ages to switch households, I’m fine with it… Kind of…
None of the changes they’ve made before have really bothered me, but without SP, I can’t really justify getting the game at launch. I’ll keep watching for good news but there’s no way I’m getting the game as it stands now.
My thinking is, the only way they can keep from losing a large chunk of their projected revenue, is to delay the game for several months and put Story Progression in.
Now they’ve cut out almost all of Story Progression?!!
What is this a Facebook game now?
Judging by what I’ve read of the current modders most aren’t going to bother with The Sims 4 as there is so much missing and they aren’t going to play it…
Twallen’s dropped out, and I believe Pescado is not going to be working on it wither…
A lot of modders dropped out after Sims 2 and Sims 1 as well. New people steeped up. I’m sure it’ll be the same this time.
Scripting language is now python instead of C#, which probably means a lower barrier to entry for script modding.
Btw, the modders I know who are leaving aren’t leaving because of ts4′s features. They’re leaving because it’s really really exhausting to keep code updated with constant patches. Feature of ts3 and probably also ts4.
I’ve had every game since 2000, when I was only 5 years old. I believe TS4 will be the first game I don’t get. No pools was bothersome, no toddlers made me mad, but no story progression? What’s the point? Taking huge steps backwards here, EAxis.
Isn’t there a millionaire out there who can buy Maxis from EA (and Maxis’ IP) and save the Sims ? I think it’s save to say we have to thank EA for the direction The Sims is going now.
why!!!!
why are you removeing all the best parts of the game, granded SP didn’t work as effectiv as I wanted, but it did work… I tought the idea of a new game was to improve it… not destroy it.
no sp, no cast, no toddlers, and the nabohood editing limitations, and not being able to follow sim A to the gym as sim B stays home.
sigh this is sad….
I remember when the head dude at Simtroplis (sp) for SimCity went to view the video work of SimCity 5 … when he sat there with the developer asking questions, you could see the disappointment on his face, and I was watching the video and his disappointed look, I thought “why does he seem so disappointed” and then when I bought the game, then I knew why – the maps were really small and you just couldn’t make a large city.
Maybe I can do without the SP – sometimes I would check on the family and they would be going on 5 kids, and then I notice as families through out my time were having more and more kids, my computer started to lag a little.
goofed …. “….throughout my “world”…were”
I was so excited about TS4 but now I don’t even want to buy it! unless something big is announced before the realise, but i’m still going to buy it and then write I review so you guys can check it out and see the positives of the game and maybe be influenced to buy it. but EA if you are reading this I am very disappointed.
I feel like the people who started working for EA on The Sims 3 have officially ruined the Sims series.
When I first heard they were working on a Sims 4, I was very excited. However, over time I’ve lost that joy and have found myself increasingly upset and annoyed. Why in the ever-loving world would you remove the best parts of each Sims game? No CASt, no toddlers, I could care less about pools, adding loading screens, and now no story progression? I’m so frustrated right now. I’m literally expecting an “just kidding!” tweet from EA. I’m an SO glad I didn’t pre-order this game in my initial excitement. It would have been a waste of money. So far? Not buying.
Yeah I never had a problem with story progression either. It worked fine for me as is. I only got Twallan’s mod in the recent couple of years because I liked the added control for certain situations.
I think I’ve finally had enough. I don’t think I’m going to buy this game…
It is a lot more like Sims 2 than Sims 3 which really shows that they’re taking huge steps backwards.
I’m sure emotions are neat, but they don’t make up for everything missing. Story Progression was one of the big things in the Sims 3 that was an improvement. I only play with one family, I’ve never liked switching to other households to age them up or have them have kids. No Story Progression is a really big step in the wrong direction. Then you add in everything else they’ve taken away that was an improvement from Sims 3, like CASt and open world… it’s just too much disappointment. I wouldn’t tolerate it in any other game… but I just seem to put up with it with the Sims because they’re a monopoly for this game type.
I just can’t spend that kind of money on a basegame knowing I’d need to spend more for expansion packs to make the game actually fun and worthwhile for me.
I feel like they did to rush the game out by 2014… sims 3 got delayed and look how well it went (kinda)
sigh…
My emotional state? Upset/Sad. I was really looking forward to TS4, but these last few days has been one big disappointment after another.
No CASt? Eh, that’s okay I guess.
No open world and loading screens? I can deal with it. Less Lag.
Create A Sim? Looks amazing.
Emotions? …Yay.
Build Mode? Love it.
Missing life stage (no toddlers)? Are you kidding me? No seriously.. did you guys hit your head or something…? WHY.
No story progression? You guys can stop pulling our legs now. Isnt the whole point of the shiny new emotion system to tell better stories? How can that happen if the rest of the world’s “story” isnt progressing?
No schools, grocery stores, etc… ugh.
I don’t even remember half the stuff they aren’t including…
Pretty glad I haven’t pre-ordered TS4. I came close, but the price isn’t worth what the game is now.
I can’t look at this game optimistically anymore.
I don’t wanna go from household to household to keep my town alive – it’s like the sims 3. Sims 3 story progression had old people moving in after the households died, and my household’s kids were the only ones in town so I had to constantly make characters in CAS to the point I couldn’t stand CAS any longer (before I installed twallan’s mods).
No toddlers, no pools, no CAST, and all these loading screens …. What kind of sims game is this? To all those who are buying the game, I really hope the 60 dollars is worth it for you guys. Frankly to me, I wouldn’t even buy the game for $5. I don’t really see the where the fun is at.
Hmm, this is weird…it’s true, the problem was my browser. It seems that it doesn’t work for Chrome. Thank you!
