Totally free

Interview all you want for free. No paywalls, no strings.

Fully anonymous

Interviews have voice but no video, and your interviewer will not know who you are or anything about you. After it's over, you can unmask yourselves, but only if you both agree.

Interviewers from top companies

Our interviewers have worked at Google, Udacity, Square, Twitch, Microsoft, and more.

For inquiring minds

Why should I do this?

First and foremost, if you're trying to get better at technical interviews, the best way to do that is to actually do it. Here, you can get a lens into the kinds of questions you'd encounter at top companies and get comfortable with answering them in a low-pressure, anonymous setting.

Beyond that, interviewing here can be a great way to get your foot in the door at top companies. Right now, engineering hiring is totally broken and relies way too much on pedigree and other proxies to filter candidates. We want to take down those barriers and create a platform where engineers can be judged on their merits above all else.

Can I get interviewed by someone I work with? Because that'd be awkward.

Nope! We'll make sure you're only paired with people you're not connected to.

Can I get a job from doing practice interviews?

Very likely, yes. For now, it's up to you and your interviewer to decide whether to de-anonymize and how to continue from there. That said, interviewers are coming from companies that are actively hiring, and doing well in a difficult technical interview is a really great way to get noticed.

Do I have to be looking for a job to use this?

Absolutely not. Whether you're here to see if you've still got it after being out of the game for a while or whether you just like solving problems with strangers or any number of other reasons, we're happy you're here.

How anonymous is this really?

Interviews have voice but no video, and your interviewer will not have access to any of your info. In other words, how much you reveal is entirely up to you. Moreover, we will never share anything about you or your contact info with anyone without your permission.

I want to be an interviewer. What do I need to do?

Awesome! Send an email to interviewers@interviewing.io with a few sentences about you, and we'll get back to you ASAP.

I still have questions.

Email us. We'd love to hear from you.

About

Hi, my name is Aline. I used to code for a living. Now I hire engineers. One of the things I've done that I'm most proud of is Lessons from a year's worth of hiring data, where I showed that, in an engineering resume, pedigree isn't a particularly valuable signal (whereas typos and grammatical errors are).

As I got deeper into recruiting, I began to discover that candidate filtering at the top of the funnel is fundamentally broken and that, despite coding being one of the more meritocratic industries out there in theory, in practice, it's anything but. I reached out to some of the best engineers and interviewers I know, and interviewing.io was born. Join us in building a community around judging people by what they can do, rather than how they look on paper.
