As a counterpoint: my sister had terrible migrane headaches and permanent blood flow down there, among other debilitating issues. It was clear that some type of medical action needed to be taken. After her prescription for the pill, everything normalized. I haven't asked in depth (I'm her brother, I really don't care to know every inner working of her vagina), but she says her life is much improved from before.

At least in cases like those, I think birth control can be considered any other medicine. A law requiring healthcare plans to be cover vaccines or other essential medicine would not be the least bit controversial except for the most insane among us. The full depth of that law, I don't pretend to know what it should be, but I do know that the "health care plans should not have to cover contraception, no not ever, for any reason" is something I can't agree with.
