never heard of whoaverse.com until this post. how can they just rip off reddit so blatantly?

[–]shamelessguy 49 ポイント50 ポイント

Reddit is open source.

Edit: It seems that Reddit's license requires everyone who modiefies the original code to make the modified code available under the same license, which whoaverse.com do. Their license is GNU though, I don't know how this works, I'm not a lawyer mmkay.

whoaverse.com don't use the Reddit's codebase since it's written in a different language. Their code is available here.

They use portions of Reddit's CSS (styling) which is aknowledged on their about page.

interesting! I didn't know Reddit was open source. still, there is, and always will be, only one true front page of the internet!

Their front page hasn't been updated since 1918.

Do you just spin a wheel and whatever iteration of "there" comes up you write down?

Reddit' source code is on github and anyone is allowed to use it.

I just took a look at their FAQ.

Hey... you look like that other site!

Any similarities are unintended and we are simply using an open-source design while we currently focus on core features integral to the sites usability and security. We are working on design, yet understand this can be a delicate issue for users these types of sites. We will therefore go through phases of engagement and post implementation review with our community to understand what their preferences are with regard to the look and feel of the site.

Umm...ok.

The OP is a shill trying to advertise whoaverse. It's a part of a massive shilling campaign /r/conspiracy planned for July 1st to try and get a bunch of people to switch over to it by July 4th.

[–]Mound 4 ポイント5 ポイント

I poked around and I can't see any value-add over there.

Whoaverse sucks. Snapzu is a lot better of an alternative IMHO.

a terrible name too

It's what happens when you keep your code open sourced I guess.
