Grammar School Admissions

Grammar school admission arrangements and Warwickshire County Council’s admission arrangements.

Re-offers of Secondary school places for September 2014 continue on an ongoing basis as places become available. Should your child be considered for a re-offer the Admissions service will contact you directly.

Registration for the 11+ test for September 2015 entry is now open.

Registering for the 11+ Test

The 11+ registration form is available below and is also included on page 41 of the Secondary school admissions booklet for 2015 entry.

11+ Registration Form

Completed forms must be returned no later than 5pm on Wednesday 9th July 2014.

Your 11+ registration form must be accompanied by two proofs of your address. These could include a current council tax bill or housing benefits letter, relevant to the 2014/2015 year. Other acceptable forms of proof must be original utility bills which are dated from 1st April 2014 onwards, and can include gas, electricity, TV Licence, water, bank statement (with account details and financial transactions removed) or landline phone bill.

If your bills are paper-free, then downloaded electronic PDF copies attached to an email, or printed PDF versions of your bills will be accepted.

Please note that original documents will not be returned, unless a stamped-addressed envelope (SAE) is included with your registration form.

If your registration form is not accompanied by two proofs of your address, or the proof provided does not meet the requirements above, then you will be contacted further by the Admissions Service. Your registration may then be classed as late.

You will receive an acknowledgement letter within 10 working days of your registration form being received.

One passport sized photograph of your child must be attached to the registration form for identification purposes. Please ensure that the form has been signed in the appropriate place by either your child’s current Headteacher or their class teacher.

The registration form only enters your child for the 11+ test and is not your application for a school place.

Further information on Secondary school admissions can be found here and in the Secondary Admissions Booklet 2015

**Important Information if you are applying for a place at Lawrence Sheriff or Rugby High**

If you move after registering your child to sit the 11+ and before 31st December 2014 you will need to provide two new proofs of your address. These will need to be original utility bills which are no more than two months old or a current council tax bill or housing benefits letter. These documents will not be returned.

If you move after 31st December 2014 two new proofs of address will be needed (as above) and your new address will only be used to adjust your child’s position on the waiting list after National Offer Day on 2nd March 2015.

Please refer to each grammar school’s criteria with regards to their arrangements for families who move address.

Applying for a place at Grammar School

To apply for a Grammar school in Warwickshire you must do two things:

Secondary school applications must be made through your own local authority. You may pick schools in any local authority to list as preferences on your application. If you do not list a Warwickshire grammar school on your secondary school application form, your child will not be considered for a place, regardless of the score achieved in the tests.

Late Registration

Late registration for the test, or a late secondary school application, means that if your child achieves the qualifying score they are not likely to be offered a grammar school place on 2nd March 2015. Children will be placed on the waiting lists of schools they have applied for only if they have achieved the relevant minimum waiting list score
