BASEMENTS were not in The Sims 3 base game. When they were added, they came, for free, in a patch.

It wasn't a big deal then.

It isn't a big deal now.

Considering all the omissions being made for the base game it wouldn't kill them to throw in something as basic as basements. At this point it's just annoying to hear about another thing that we're used to using not being in the base game.

[–]Simify 14 ポイント15 ポイント

"Basic" is relative. Basements probably aren't included because the new build mode system means the concept of moving and placing rooms underground is complicated and needs to be worked out before they can be added properly (as well as multiple foundation heights meaning it could be hard to access the basement properly, or a way to make basements half-submerged and begin at the foundation instead of at the ground, or even having the basement start at the foundation AND pushing it up/down if you raise/lower the foundation). Determining how to do these things, what would and wouldn't be possible, etc are all things that require work to do. It's not as simple as just "adding basements".

Those problems (presumably) have not been solved. The functionality is possible, but working it out is not as important as other core functions of the game.

Just like with Sims 3.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I don't mind, as long as they patch it in eventually. This is much more understandable.

TL;DR - more issues caused by EA rushing the release, and we shouldn't get angry at Maxis. We should just give them a chance to patch the stuff in after a month or two.

Then we get angry, if they try and sell it as DLC.

The game was delayed...

[–]Aiyon 0 ポイント1 ポイント

More time != sufficient time. They already underestimated how much time they needed, why is it impossible they did it twice? They had to make a choice between delay again, or cut content.

But the fact that for every new addition they've had to cut something else suggests that they were either lacking resources, or have incompetent managers. And EA doesn't lack resources.

Toddlers I don't mind them removing, they actually made the game kind of a drag after a couple generations because they're functionally just larger babies. They're still incapable of doing pretty much anything other than sleep or eat. But swimming pools are something that have been in every Sims game, and is one of the staple features.

It's also a very odd choice to remove Swimming Pools. I mean, why? xD

But the fact that for every new addition they've had to cut something else

That's not a fact and it's not even remotely accurate and you know it. :\

[–]Aiyon 0 ポイント1 ポイント

  1. That's the only thing you're going to reply to?

  2. It's hyperbole. I didn't actually mean it was fact. But for every new feature or improvement they make a big deal out of there seems to be something else that they're removing or changing for the worse.

Just curious, playing the devils advocate:

What if they don't come "free" in a patch this time around? I mean, yes, it is fact that they did come for the Sims 3 free, but coming for free in the Sims 3 =/= free in the Sims 4. Just going to put that out there.

[–]Backpacks_Got_Jets 11 ポイント12 ポイント

EA is the king of microtransactions. I still hold onto my fears from SimCity and I will keep spouting my hatespeech about the way they did business with that launch until I can see the Sims 4 is not being treated the same way

[–]EiraRose 1 ポイント2 ポイント

Oh I do too, but I just wanted to see why Simify was so sure it would be free now just because it was in the Sims 3. Anything that isn't 100% confirmed means nothing until EA actually confirms it.

Which would mean it could possibly be free, or it could be charged for.

[–]Simify 0 ポイント1 ポイント

"Cry first, get facts later", then?

[–]Commisar 5 ポイント6 ポイント

"Cry first, get facts later"

that should be this subs motto.

you would think that someone who hates EA as much as these people would try and kickstart/develope their own life simulator, but i think that would be too much effort.

[–]Aiyon 1 ポイント2 ポイント

I've started looking into it, actually. Between trying to make one, and some of the stuff /u/SND_Crow has explained, I stopped being upset about the cost / time it takes to get all the content.

Seriously, this shit takes a long time to model and animate, it's insane. Especially quadrupeds. There's a reason there aren't any real competitors to The Sims. Nobody expects enough interest to get a good return for the investment.

comments like this should be more common here

[–]Backpacks_Got_Jets -3 ポイント-2 ポイント

With EA that's kind of the way you have to work.

If you give them the benefit of the doubt without expressing your concerns first then who is being silly? The one who is angry and waits or the one who is blindly supports the one who's been burned before.

It's almost like beaten spouse syndrome. "BUT I LOVE HIM HE SAID HE'S CHANGED" fuck that

[–]axel_val 2 ポイント3 ポイント

As long as they don't offer like 1-5 things per "pack" I'm happy with bigger pieces of the game like basements and toddlers coming in expansion packs. The expansion packs have always added so much to the game that I *dont understand the complaints. Whole worlds, new interactions, new looks, whatever. As long as they keep up with giving us half a game's worth of content in each expansion pack I'll be a happy purchaser.

[–]Aiyon 2 ポイント3 ポイント

Agreed, just work on basements and toddlers and add them in the first patch/update, or stick them in seasons, because everyone buys seasons.

[–]Commisar 2 ポイント3 ポイント

but..but.. WHAT ABOUT THE EA HATRED KARMA!!!!!1
