A new patch for MG, version 2.0.3 has just been uploaded. Primarily, it corrects a number of issues in the editor, but it also fixes a couple of relatively minor bugs in the main game. Enjoy, and as always, please let us know of any bugs you find or things you'd like to see added!
The latest patch release for MageGuild, v2.0.2 is out. It fixes several nasty bugs, including the shapechange-on-load issue. MageGuild 2.5 is still in the works, but will probably be some time in coming. At the moment, it's looking like a non-MageGuild-related project is going to be the next thing released, although it's still in its infancy (more details when it's further along!).

After a long and winding beta, MageGuild 2.0 is finally out for public consumption!
A ton of new things got added for this version; lots of new enemies, a whole new class of item, new terrains, a number of handy new features for the editor, and some slick little UI improvements.
As always, HUGE thanks to the beta testers for sticking with it, and please report any bugs or issues you have.
Once any bug-fixing releases are out of the way, there are plans for a MageGuild 2.5, down the line. This would be largely a polish release; soft terrain edges, possibly some sound effects or background music, etc. Not to say that MageGuild's gameplay is set in stone, of course- by all means, keep the good ideas coming. Much of what ended up in MG 2.0 was suggested by one or another of the forum-goers, so those ideas absolutely go somewhere.

As much as I loathe the things, I've had to add a Captcha to the form for submitting new issues, due to clever spambots submitting dubious links there. Note that this only applies to unauthenticated users; if you have an account, and you're logged into it, you shouldn't even see it when you go to submit a bug or suggestion. New version of MageGuild is up; there were several nasty breaking bugs in 1.4, and they've been corrected for 1.4.1. Also, a set of tutorials and some reference material have been added to the Level Editor's help.

It's been a long time in coming, but MageGuild 1.4 is finally out for public consumption!
The big thing for this version is the addition of a level editor: you can now build custom scenarios to play through, and create mods for the base game. Have a great idea for a monster or an item that you think the game is missing? Create it as a mod, add it in. Want to see how other players fare against your most devious mazes? Build a scenario for them to test themselves against. Once your creations are done, upload them to the site and share them with the community!
I realize that the editor's help is rather lacking at the moment. I haven't had time to put together a decent tutorial, and I figured it would be better to let you guys play with the editor than to make you sit on your hands until I found the time to put one together. Hopefully, things are fairly self-explanatory, and if you get stuck on something, the beta testers have been playing with it for a while, so I'm sure they can help you out if you post in the forums.
Speaking of the beta-testers, a gigantic thank-you to them, this release would not exist without their help.

Remember when I mentioned growing pains?
My host swapped us between servers, which I requested, but I wasn't aware of the exact timing on it. As a result, a bunch of data was lost, including some user accounts and some posted content. So, I apologize, and hopefully we'll be able to keep that from happening again.

I apologize for any growing pains, but something like Drupal has been needed for some time, and now seems like the time to do it. We can finally have a forum integrated with the rest of the site, the ability to comment on news, and a means of sharing creations for the MageGuild editor- and yes, it'll be released properly in a few days.
