Why does it have to end with "Huxley, not Orwell was right"? It's very clear today that BOTH Huxley and Orwell were right.

At least in the case of Western nations it's quite accurate. The kind of censorship that Orwell feared has generally failed and with things like the internet it's pretty much impossible to stop people saying what they want. However, there's plenty of apathy and for a lot of people they're preoccupied by whatever TV show is on to care much for what's going on in politics or what they can do to change things, which is in line with what Huxley feared.

That said, there are also plenty of countries where totalitarianism has taken hold, so Orwell had a lot of legitimate fears too, just not within our Western context.

Except you know, major countries are trying to do the exact same things that were done in 1984.

No Western nation has tried anything that is even close to what Orwell predicted.

Oh? We're getting closer and closer year by year. It's already starting, open your eyes.

Yeah, I tried to turn my telescreen off today but the Inner Party wouldn't let me. We are literally in 1984.

Oh god, they heard me. I can hear them coming. Tell my family I love them!

Wow, you're a smart cookie.

Where did I say we are literally living in 1984, where did I say that major countries are exactly emulating 1984?

I never did. But they are trying to be similar.

Hello, this is a representative of the Inner Party. Bilgistic is currently unavailable as he is a little.. preoccupied. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
