Maybe the pic has to be an analogy, a metaphor, to be a "REFERENCE"? A selfie or a portrait isn't a reference unless it adds meaning to the conversation in some way.

yeah, all caps is totally a reference. /s dude, not everything is a reference. a picture can be a reference. in this case showing teeth is a reference to suarez biting a guy. and saying a picture isn't a reference unless it adds meaning to the conversation, you realize that a lot of references don't add any meaning to the conversation, right? so that's total bull shit.

If the top comment in this thread counts two references, not three, perhaps you don't GET references....

A reference, like a meme, needs to be something that most (not all) others would instantly "GET" when they see it. You don't get references as a concept if you think a pic, like a selfie, constitutes a reference.
