Gay conservative here. Fiscal conservative with a socially liberal bent. Should I expect a welcome-wagon or a lynch mob? (self.Conservative)

I'm just wondering because my political beliefs lead me more to the conservative side of the spectrum. I'm a fiscal conservative believing in low taxes but also a social liberal believing in gay marriage. Where the hell do I fit in the political spectrum?

Welcome aboard. We all don't agree on every issue here, but I think you'll find that you can have a civil discussion, express (not push) your views/opinions, and not be belittled for doing so.
You may also be surprised to learn that we aren't rich, white, homophobic, racists.
You're welcome. Conservatives aren't one dimensional and we don't lynch people who we disagree with. You can be openly gay and still be conservative and advocate for gay rights without enduring hate speech from most other conservatives.
Well, first of all, you're more than welcome. Glad to have you. Secondly, being for gay marriage doesn't make you socially liberal. Very, very few people tow the line on every single issue. It's the total weight of your social beliefs that will determine where on the spectrum you fall, not one issue. Lots of conservative libertarians are for gay marriage or having the government out of marriage completely, so you actually have some commonality with them. But, feel free to expound on your beliefs if you're wondering what strain of conservatism, if any, you identify with. There's many types, and we'd be glad to help you understand them and discuss the issues themselves.
Again, welcome to the sub!
Thank you for the welcome. I'm just sick of the false welcome from the supposed liberal side. I've dealt with enough assholes to build with my own museum.
I can't speak for the rest of the sub, but I'm glad to have you here. The more the merrier.
It seems like they are very welcoming to all comers unless any of your views conflicts with theirs. It think it's funny that the group that is usually framed as cold and judgmental (Conservatives), are frankly, usually much more welcoming.
What makes you socially liberal?
