The Republicans will change their approach or at least their rhetoric regarding immigrants when this becomes a real problem for them. Texas going blue isn't that crazy of an idea though. It wasn't long ago that Texas had a female, pro gay rights Democrat governor. Texas even went to Jimmy Carter in '76.

Yes, something called a 'Republican Party' will be around, and be politically competitive, for exactly as long as something called the 'Democratic Party' will be. But that's no comfort to the people who will no longer have planks in either party, and no nightmare for the Democrats who can then enjoy fierce debates like "should we merely soak the rich or try instead to eliminate them as walking threats to economic equality?"

IMO, the Republican rhetoric has come off as unconcerned and abrasive when it comes to matters of immigration and poverty alleviation. Even the most staunch Republicans in the old days offered substitutes for the welfare programs favored by Democrats. The impression these days is that there should be no role whatsoever for the government when it comes to welfare.

Just a few decades ago, California was an anti-tax anti-regulation Republican stronghold.

Yeah. Those were different times though. Anti-tax, and anti-regulation meant different things relative to the time. Decades ago Ronald Reagan was a Democrat who, after switching to Republican as Governor, signed a bill legalizing abortions. That illustrates how different things were then.

It's not the times that changed. It's the demographics. That's just what happens when you let in tens of millions of immigrants who come here on the promise of Democrats giving them welfare.

Reagan also said after watching a video of an abortion, the abortion bill was the biggest regret of his life.

At what point do conservatives say tougher deportation and tougher immigration laws. You guys act like people manipulating democracy is anything new, in reality it isn't. The thing is though, conservatives are being complicit with it for the most part. The GOP needs an anti-immigration platform.

anti illegal immigration platform

Congress can pass a law and make it legal. They could pass a law immediately recognizing anyone who touches American soil to be an American.

There would then be no illegal immigration or illegal immigrants at all, and nobody to oppose them.

But America would die.

No, we should also cut down the amount of people naturalizing as well.

As conservatives, it should be our duty to retain the collective interests of the conservative people already living here, not replacing them with migrants and hoping they'll vote Republican.
