You cannot conclude that I was talking about myself - I could have some senile friends from XXX school who can't remember that formula (prove me wrong). There is no contradiction here.

Secondly, he was just quoting one of my jokes on this reddit since an OP was asking about advice to help her boyfriend relax. I also gave some other math studying tips, so it wasn't all sex. OK, there are no mistakes here and this is actually a proof of the "obvious" fact of strictly increasing functions used by AFairJudgement but someone just blindly downvotes. (Why is there a unique c? Shouldn't we justify that in analysis?) OK, my mistake about the boundary conditions. But what's the problem? Can't you just integrate x2 +y2 +z2 over z from 0 to a-x-y (to give you x2 z +y2 z + z3 /3 which you then evaluate at the boundaries of 0 and a-x-y), then integrate over y from 0 to a-x since there is no more z term (you have the definite integral from before and do the same thing again) and finally integrate over x from 0 to a?

In general, we cannot just interchange limits with other analytical symbols like integrals.

lim n->∞ ∫ [-n,n] x3 dx = lim n-> ∞ ( 0) is not valid in general (but there may be some continuity sufficient conditions, I'm not entirely certain).

But ∫ [-∞,∞] x3 dx = lim n->∞ ∫ [0,n] x3 dx + lim n->∞ ∫ [-n,0] x3 dx by one definition of improper integrals (what definition do you use?). Like Robus says, this is inf - inf, which does not make sense.

okies i don't really know anything much and people hate me here but i think it will depend on what you want to take as a higher math class. some things dont rely on calculus at all. so if you are confident that u will not need calculus anymore just go with the c. if not you should retake if u think u can do better and want to know more about calculus.

Like AFairJudgement says f'' is always positive. We use Rolle's theorem instead of his method, since you want to know that method. So suppose there are two critical points, a and b where a<b. We know f is differentiable everywhere so critical points must occur when f' =0

Hence f'(a)=f'(b)=0

By Rolle's theorem, there exists a c in (a,b) s.t. f''(c)=0

But f''(x)> 0 for all x in R.

Therefore contradiction.

Q.E.D.
