...You know what's bad? I completely agreed with your opinion and was moving to upvote you, but before I did it, my eyes jerked just a bit right and saw (?|?).

I couldn't help but chuckle.

isnt this the reason why it was removed?

if you are being influenced by other peoples' opinions, displaying groupthink would be a detriment to what reddit stands for right?

[–]Eupho 48

How does this way not make groupthink worse? The old way at least you could see your opinion was controversial. Now you only see the hive minds opinion.

It's just temporary.

[–]Fazzeh 0

What if you could see the number on your own comments, but no one else could?

Some subs seem to have worked that way. You would see your comment karma but all the others would appear as [score hidden] until some given time period had passed.

[–]Fazzeh 0

/r/4chan has that permanently, but probably for different reasons.

I think it was /r/politics that I was thinking of. I could be wrong though as I don't really pay as much attention to subs as I probably should.

And I have paid the price by accidentally getting involved in /r/science threads a couple of times. My sense of humor is definitely not welcome there.

Yea, that's why I chuckled.

You know, now that I've read and realised this I've also gone back and changed my ? vote into a ? vote

That's very big/lame of you. Have a ? vote.

if you are being influenced by other peoples' opinions

You weren't though, most of the numbers were vote-fuzzing

Only in the largest subs.

It was reddit wide, to help stop robots and stalkers having any major impact, or discover that they weren't having any major impact.

No, this change was not made to stop bots. You are confusing this with vote fuzzing, which was already in place. Go back and read the /r/announcements thread.

Scores were hidden for the first hour or so though. Group think will still apply when you see a post below threshold or at -5 points or whatever. you just don't know how many upvotes it had to offset that number.

No it was removed (according to the mods) because they wanted to stop the fuzzing of votes (a while back they set up an automatic downvote system. When you made a new post it would downvote it. Then no one would get to see it and upvote it and that was the end of your post.) So in order to stop that, they somehow had to remove all karma totals (although you can still see them on mobile, you have 26 points, but it never said a total up and down on mobile) and work on it. It should be a quick fix, but that's something you'll either have to hunt down the post or talk to the mods about.

but you still see the net vote count though so it's not like "hmm, I do wonder how popular this post with a net of 2k upvotes is, I guess I will just trust my instinct then."

Mobile. I see your post has 51 points. If you're having such a problem with it, use a mobile device and reddit is fun.
