This sounds like me in my Libertarian phase.

Well as a so called fickle, self improving asshole I'd say that the counterculture has it's place, but the death of competition wholesale is the death of society.

If you want to "Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out" as Timothy Leary coined, then go ahead. Nothing you are saying is particularly original, you can see the same general concepts in the Hippie revolution, 19/20th century utopia communes, early Christianity sects, St. Francis of Assisi, Cynicism among the ancient Greek Philosophers and any number of other social movements.

It is at the core a reaction to the natural order of competition and the subjugation of weaker members of a society. Very high minded and erudite, but fundamentally impractical on the grand scale. There will always be those who compete, your so called assholes, and they will find a way to get ahead. Even in cultures that espouse your ideals at a universal level like Buddhism/Hinduism etc. they fall apart.

One can believe, for example, that everyone deserves a fair trial, and best efforts of their attorney, while still not being able to bear defending 100 mass murderers in a row. That's kind of how I feel. I'm not anti-capitalist, but at the end of that day, I just can't bear to do it, I feel like I'm doing wrong.

No one is saying you can't live the way you want to, but I'd tone down the holier than thou attitude. Your beliefs are not some kind of universal morality, they are in fact relative and set by your own solipsism.
