That seinfeld episode was pretty good though

Only time I've laughed this season was when he punched that chick in the face. However I think that probably says more about me, not the show.

That whole episode was funny though, especially when he slipped coming in the door, we rewound that several times. The rest of the season hasn't been as funny as this one episode though for sure.

One of the main reasons I visit this sub so much. You're all a bunch of toxic and miserable cunts, but at least you don't just throw around the same obnoxious 50 stock phrases in response to everything.

I understood they wrote it in a really douchy way, Louie is bloody good though.

[–]uhh-huhhKill your mother/Rape your dog

They really don't know Louie for what O&A listeners now him, and if they did, they'd despise him more than their closet-homosexual slacktivist selves; the thought makes me smile every time.

Give it 3 more years of success, and Louie might start apologizing for things he said on the O&A show...

He's a great guy, but I could see him turning that way.

He'll be directing high budget ironic romantic comedies and wearing a beret within the next 2 years.

He's already booking gigs for his Sunday jazz clarinet shows in NYC.

Complete with the romantic couple standing with their backs to each other looking over their shoulder with a smug smile and pointing.

The couple will be a same sex couple.

Stuff is already popping up from past O&A shows. Stern asked him about when Louis had his dog lick cottage cheese off his balls (as a teen) and Louis got incredibly flustered and embarrassed, and asked out loud "Who the fuck did I tell that to?" It was a really funny moment.

I like Louie... but he's really going to pull a Jonah Hill apology before too long.

He said that in a standup special, it's not even like he just said it on O&A

I didn't realize he did it in a special, but he's still told O&A a number of horrible things and stuff that could easily be taken out of context or misconstrued (like when he was a kid breaking into his apt neighbor's house to steal their underwear to jerk off into).

or showing his dick to a retarded girl

Oh brilliant we can have more fucking apology bits. Yeah fucking cracking. Can't wait.

He's actually very very PC. Everything he says now is carefully constructed to be apparently controversial and outrageous whilst nevertheless respecting the boundaries of liberal ideology.

Yeah... Now.

[–]Ignatius_Oh_Reilly 0 ポイント1 ポイント

Noticed that change too. It's a pretty brilliant strategy. Act edgy, be PC. Then enjoy the critics and mainstream audience praise you.

I miss old Louie. Oh well.

I remember in his last special he implied (I paraphrase) that "maybe" it's US soldiers fault for getting killed and it shouldn't be shocking that if they go to another country and shoot at people that they get killed.

I think that's one of the more edgy things he's said that went completely unnoticed or unchallenged. Cunt, piss, shit bad words are one thing, but challenging one of the most 'sacred' ideals of our society is another. The only other comic I can think of that challenged the 'support our troops' trope is Carlin. Of course Louie, on the other hand has done USO and other support shit so maybe he get's a pass.

[–]Ignatius_Oh_Reilly 0 ポイント1 ポイント

Stanhope did a similar routine on it. I've heard some others as well that I can't name off the top of my head right now. I grew up in a liberal area so maybe that is why it doesn't shock me. Heard that sentiment growing up.

Louie is a great stand up, he just is less edgy with his message now. I don't like him as much as a lot of people reddit. Personally I prefer Burr and Stanhope. He is still one of the best and a living legend. I just miss old darker Louie.

great bit

Yeah, and to think he called Patrice a nigger on live air.

I actually think the PC Liberal Louie is a front, but like all fronts if you're committed to it you become it.

[–]CowsAreCuriousHave You Ever Really Thought About Water? 5

ya. but the strange thing is that louis is in this rarefied air where the folks who would be against this language in any capacity would line up to defend him because it's different when he does it. the guy works hard and no doubt deserves his success but it's rather odd that with such a deep well of outrageously brutal [funny] comments, he's been embraced with open arms by hollywood

good thing patrice is laughing the hardest of anyone in the clip

He is a massive liberal so no one is going to touch him. His last SNL was atrocious, talking about white privilege and how great women are compared to men.

Yeah it's not like white privilege has been a recurring theme for him since the beginning.

how blacks can't use a time machine, how lucky his daughters are to be white in America, how being perceived as white even though he is half Mexican is a great benefit, how white people think slavery ended 400 years ago, how everything has been great for blacks since the end of slavery (sarcastically), how blacks with gray in their hair grew up in a time of segregation, etc.

These are just off the top of my head I'm sure I can come up with many more. He's also done a ton of shit about women being greater than men, especially in his earlier standups.

Maybe you just have a thing about labeling people Liberal to fit your agenda.

The old Louie used to focus on being funny not making a political statement. All those jokes that you listed were hilarious and were designed to be provocative (similar to rape jokes). Nowadays he is sacrificing comedy for the sake of the liberal propaganda which is all over the entertainment business.

And by the way you don't know my agenda! You are just assuming!

[–]Redfel -2

Yeah, really edgy stuff like how Christianity is bad and beating women is bad.

Just a quote from the beginning:

"I got a white noise machine. Do you know what a white noise machine is? It is a machine that helps white people sleep at night. Because we shouldn't be able to!"

[–]Redfel 1

And the worst part was hearing Ant laugh about that and continue sucking Louie's dick for the worst SNL monologue ever.

i'm sorry to say, i think you're right. i always assumed he'd be above the apology thing, the same way he'll turn fans away when he's with his kids and not apologize. But the career-threatening apology-mongering PC-kkk might just get the better of him if his current tv gig were at stake. I hope not, but i bet it would.

Not just his current tv gig.... but when his current "rise to A-list" fame is threatened... He'll cave.

What sort of things has he said on O&A that Louie fans wouldn't like?

[–]uhh-huhhKill your mother/Rape your dog

let me just say, it isn't only one instance. enjoy searching.

Can you give me one example?

[–]uhh-huhhKill your mother/Rape your dog

just search for louis ck + the most offensive word you can think of on youtube for example. if nothing comes up, add 'opie anthony' to it.

Why can't you provide an example though? Pick whichever one you think would be the most objectionable to Louie fans. Searching for offensive words out of context won't produce anything interesting, everyone already knows he throws the word cunt around a lot.

[–]uhh-huhhKill your mother/Rape your dog -1 ポイント0 ポイント

If 'cunt' is the most offensive word you can think of, than your soul shouldn't be spoiled by hate any further.

I'm assuming you had a specific instance in mind when you made your original comment...why not just tell me what it is?

[–]SierraNovember2Ooglie Booglie Member -2

Because we're not giving you fodder for some shitty blog article for xojane or salon so you can act like a sanctimonious demagogue of morale superiority.

What?

"Get a twelve year old's cunt transplanted into your old body. That'll make your love last, you fucking shit viewer. Switch it out. Switch out your old pussy for your daughter's, you old whore."

"It's all about communigaytion. Because I'm gay with sperm in my mouth."

"According to this movie, when you fantasize about a cheerleader, you lay on your back and flower petals fall all over you. Rose petals just fall all over your body--that's what you think about. Instead of just her hot, sweaty ass and the confused look on her face as you just come in her stupid eye, and then hold her throat and tell her not to tell people. You fucking bleach your hair and move out of town. Avoid her calls when she skips her period a month later."

I honestly don't think many Louie viewers would be surprised by any of these. His standup can be pretty vulgar as well, and most Louie viewers are familiar with his standup. I was expecting something more like "I hate niggers".

I'm in a library right now without headphones, what's the worst bit?

You're probably right. Those were the worst lines (that are actually funny in context) I could think of from his appearances. I never really thought of him as a shock comic, so I don't know why people are acting like he used to say stuff like "I hate niggers" when he did four hours on the show every couple of weeks. He's surreal and says weird things to be funny, but I've never gotten the feeling that he's trying to offend people, or that he's trying to be PC.

Yeah that's why I was confused by OP's comment. Even on the show itself he uses a lot of non-PC terminology in the standup routines he includes.

[–]Redfel 0

Louie goes on O&A and talks about his racist boner and then on his show he's hitting on black girls and his wife is inexplicably black.

I post on there. It's fun to discuss because I like analysis, but holy fuck people, it's not fucking Shakespeare

Those people are fucking strange. I love the show and watch every episode. But the thing I think I enjoy about it, is the fact that I feel nothing while watching it. I barely laugh, I definitely don't get emotional, sometimes I cringe a little. But it's just kind of there. I don't get why people are treating it like it's so genius and life changing though

When I first came to Reddit, I subscribed to all the shows' subreddits that I like...

Then I realized one by one they're all over-the-top fawning over everyone and the actors and shit... I quickly backed off.

happens in all subs, the most "passionate" opinions rise up to the top. Dont act like theres not some pretty obsessed people over here aswell, but you dont think they represent you because they dont.

[–]Spokker 5

This is what happens when you create a forum about a very specific topic. A negative feedback loop is created in which users feed off each other's insanity, and everyone becomes more obsessed than they would be in the absence of that forum. No negative comments are allowed and people are banned for criticizing the topic at hand.

A good example of this is Sonic the Hedgehog. Somehow an affinity for this video game has turned into a full-blown furry community full of broken people. One fun thing to do is to go to Google Image Search, type in any first name and then "the Hedgehog" after it. Watch the autism unfold right in front of your eyes. They all want to be fucking animals.

At least when it comes to radio show forums, fans seem to hate their own obsession, so you do get a good balance of positive and negative comments. But that seems to be only radio.

One quick look and all I can say is wow. That place is insufferable.

Someone made a thread called, "Do you think this show will return to being a comedy next season?" that of course got downvoted, but the couple of responses were so cringeworthy.

This one was the worst:

if you want "funny" television then go ahead and watch the countless vapid "funny" sitcoms getting crunched out daily. louie has been progressing with its artistic vision for quite awhile now, so i dont see how you have only started to complain after season 4
