So, are there are still comics where Marvel doesn't make oblique references to the DCU?

Which panel has the reference?

Nova does say "Up, up and away" which was Superman's thing for a while.

"A while"? You mean the better part of a century and is intrinsically linked with the character?

Why does it seem to upset you so much?

Better part of a century? I doubt he was using it regularly up into the 80s or so.

As recently as 2006, in a story timed with the release of Superman Returns.

The writer having Nova say that line isn't a matter of conjecture. It is a Superman reference.

He's referenced it, but it's not still a catchphrase.

That's simply false. Superman is the origin of the phrase. It is intrinsically linked to that character and is still used in connection with him.

I mean, how old are you? Were you born in the late 90's? How could you not know this?

It's tied to him, but he hasn't actually said it on a regular basis in ages.

And?

In no way, shape, or form does that mean that another comic book character using a very specific phrase, which is part of a culture which supersedes comics, isn't an explicit Superman reference.

It has a long, venerated, obvious history. And I'm simply stunned that someone in /r/comicbooks would be so silly as to argue against it. No, there's a better word: ignorance. An absence of knowledge.

The very first one.
